Man if I was as down on Jones as you guys all are I'd be losing sleep every night the next three weeks.

Thankfully I can just relax and be good with whoever we pick.

I'm halfway through this podcast with JTO. He's got Lawrence and fields ahead of everyone.

When it comes to all these podcasts/videos being linked, I appreciate the TLDL version.

lol no problem, I will say if you're interested in learning more about all these guys...this is a good listen. JTO overall doesn't get the hype with Wilson. I haven't gotten to Lance/Mac yet.

BUT it's pretty obvious he's got Lawrence and fields on another tier...at worst in all of these videos/pods it's 90% Wilson/Fields in that 2 to the 3 spot.

Oh wow!! Can hardly wait!

Matt Maiocco made some sense. His theory is that SF has 3 QBs they really like and 2 of them are Lawrence and Wilson because why would they sit at #3 and not be prepared to draft Lawrence and Wilson if they drop to 3? They can't simply pick them based on them magically dropping to 3. They MUST be prepared to draft them if they drop. This means those are 2 of the 3 they like.

Now who's the 3rd. Well, there's only one other QB that fits most of the traits Wilson and Lawrence have and that's Mac Jones.

How are Wilson and Mac similar?

They have nothing in common other then being QBs

They are both students of the game. Real take your lunch box to work kinda guys. Quicker than fast. Sneaky athletic. Non stop motors.

Lol,...gotta love these yearly stereotypes only reserved for certain kinds of QBs.

I hear Mac Jones takes 3 lunch boxes though.

lol right? Literally all the "talking heads" are just picking who looks most like the last couple QBs Kyle has had....it's really hard nuanced work

Why can't get paid 6 figures to make s**t up??

Would be super excited if we draft Fields no doubt.
well clearly the Panthers didn't like Jones enough lol. There goes that myth.
5. MAC JONES, ALABAMA
Biggest pro: AccuracyJones was deadly accurate week in and week out this past season. Just 14% of his passes beyond the line of scrimmage were deemed accurate by PFF's ball-charting process. Not only did that top all quarterbacks in 2020, but it was better than any quarterback since PFF began charting that data in 2018 — including Joe Burrow. Pinpoint accuracy was a key reason that Jones finished 2020 with the lowest single-season negatively graded throw rate in PFF's seven years of grading college football.

Biggest con: Easy situationThe biggest criticisms of Jones center on his middling physical tools and the near-perfect situation around him at Alabama, with now-Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian calling plays and Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith featuring as the team's top target. That said, Jones' timing was pristine, and he was vital in the execution of a historically great offense that put up the highest successful pass play rate in the PFF College era (61%).

Or they knew 49ers were taking him and they had no shot.

thing is no one knows because SF hasn't leaked a damn thing according to multiple reports. Kyle hasn't even told his assistants on his QB board yet.

They would rather have Sam then wait on Jones IMO

Yeah. We could say the same thing about Fields and Lance. We don't know how the Panthers feel about any of them at this point. I am not sure this deal stops them from drafting a QB either.

NY you're my hope in now convincing me were not taking jones. I was sure of the other way but cause they traded him to the Panthers where jones was always slotted at, it makes me a little nervous.

It's either jones goes to us or he falls way further down and his hype was all smoke.

OH but everyone was linking Jones to CAR for months...Rhule tried recruiting him, he wanted to coach him at the SB...guess that s**t wasn't true lol.

They just picked up Sam's 5th yr option too.
