Isn't Mac Jones about as athletic as Alex Smith?
I would say it is somewhat similar....you could even say its close if Jones was in an offense that mandated he be in peak shape. Even as out of shape (by NFL standards) as he appears to be, he still measured well.
Alex Smith was absolutely overrated athletically in college. Posters back then thought he was going to come in and be Steve Young or better.
Totally disagree. Ran a faster than average 40 and he had a couple of 300 & 400 yard rush seasons in Kansas City. He definitely was not Steve Young and I don't remember people thinking that. I do remember wishing that he'd run more because I felt he left a lot of yards on the field, particularly before Harbaugh came.

I just can't shake the feeling. It feels inevitable to me.
and again, I don't hate the kid. But god damn, at 3?
You could type " I don't hate the kid, but damn in the first round?" and a lot of people would agree with you.
He has a Drew Bree's top of the second round feel to me. Maybe you got him early, but I understand it was a long wait to try and get him in the 3rd.
I think all the Mac Jones resistance comes from not just being a first, but a high first....and not just a high first....but damn traded 3 first to TAKE HIM high in the first.
I hope the dude ends up a franchise QB.....because the fans and media are just waiting to complain. The dude would get Boo'ed in a live draft.
I think he can, depending on where he goes. I just hope he doesn't end up in New England.

Phoenix, I don't think this could have been more accurate. Mac Jones on the 49ers seems like it would be similar to Tim Duncan Spurs. I always referred to them as the Borg. Nothing outrageous, but they get s**t done right and make the opponent and all their athleticism feel like idiots.
It's possible if he goes to the right team.
