To be fair, I don't think Mac Jones will fail, so I wouldn't expect the 49ers to be looking for a QB in the near future. I think he's actually going to be pretty damn good on a similar level to Kirk Cousins. He's just not going to be the transcending talent people want at QB.

Said it a bunch of times, but my issue isn't necessarily taking Mac. It's that they gave away a boatload of draft picks for a dude that also shouldn't be going 3rd overall.

We had no choice.

Plan A was Watson and I think we were going to get him until he destroyed everything (allegedly).

Jimmy and MInshew was not going to cut it this year and I am glad we didn't use hopium in hopes that Jones/Fields/Lance would make it to #12 or within shorter trading distance to 7-8 where we weren't guaranteed a trading partner and someone else behind us could have traded up to as Kyle said "leave us at the altar."

I'd rather overpay with the two future 1sts for Jones if that's who Kyle is set on than hope he falls far enough to be within closer reach or to our pick or hope no one else trades up for him first leaving us with Jimmy and nobody this year. That would have been ****ing unacceptable.

Trade Jimmy for the Pats 2nd rounder and combine with our 2nd to move up to 18-22 and grab another top talent and there you go we essentially get our 2022 1st rounder a year early right now and takes the sting away from next years first as long as we are picking 20+ next year.

By the time we figure out if Jones (or Fields) is legit or not it will be 2024 and we'll have all our 1st rounders again. A 1st in 2022 is 2nd round value after discounting back to present, and the 2023 1st is a 3rd round value as they have to wait two years to use it. And we got to keep all our picks this year which was huge.

This mortgaging the future talk is garbage especially if these are two 1sts in the 20+.

2024.....just in time to draft another QB.

Ppl paying too much attention to what Adam Schefter is saying. He didn't have any clue about Niners trading to 3 and we found out later that they were trying to trade into top 5-6 for weeks. How is he gonna know anything about who 49ers will actually draft?!?

He said he'd be shocked if Darnold isn't Jets starting QB. He didn't know anything about trade going down with Panthers before it went down.

Feel like an echo chamber in the media. Couple guys who are friends with Shanahan said it - and they prefaced it by saying - that's what they think knowing Shanahan but Shanahan hasn't talked to them - and then half of media start repeating it - and then rest are like - there's too much smoke - so they also start saying the same s**t.

Maybe Mac Jones is the pick in the end - there's only 3 QBs to pick from - so you have a 33% of getting it right. But, I am confident in saying - no one knows who will be the pick other than Shanahan and Lynch and upper management in the Niners organization.

Why because they're black? If anything fields/Lance are more like Lawrence and Wilson as far as how they play the position compared Jones.

They really aren't similar. Fields is much more of a twitchy thrower, while Lance is a lot more deliberate in his motion pre-throw.

This. Nobody knows what goes on in 49er headquarters. We never leak anything and this just screams speculation.

Jimmy is a rock-solid 225 lbs at 6'2". The dude is put together extremely well and clearly puts in his hours in the weight room.

Yes!!! There are 5 QB's that are considered elite. Lawrence, Wilson, Jones, Fields, Lance. Out of those 5, only 1 will be great, one ok, and 3 busts. I keep saying that the best QB in this draft might end up being a late round pick and my pick for that is Mond! Why not pair Kyle Pitts with Kittle and get Mond later?? Sure he has flaws but we are supposed to have a genius coach in Kyle, I'm sure he can make Mond work.

Not sure how you can say fields is a twitchy thrower the guy has the worst mechanics of all the top 5 QB's with his weird windup.

That's such a nitpicking thing...overall their play isn't close to what Mac Jones is. They spend more time out of the pocket extending plays, the have legit designed runs, they hold onto the ball, they aren't about the easy play (a lot of hero ball) etc...

I don't know how anyone could say Lawrence and wilson are their top 2 QBs and Jones must be 3rd? It's like saying Mahomes and Watson are you're two first picks and your 3rd is Jared Goff. They not remotely close to the same type of player. Their skill sets aren't the same.

If anything Lance/Fields' games resemble the other two compared to Jones. That's why the whole Jones thing doesn't add up for me...unless they think Jones is the #1 QB in this draft hands down... in that case we need to serious question Kyle and he shouldn't be involved in drafting.

Overall "kyle's picks" have turned into some pretty bad players (CJ, Pettis, Williams come to mind).
