EXACTLY RIGHT. I wonder if you put Mac Jones at Iowa, does he become C.J. Beathard? We'll never know, but its easy to to say the only reason he looked good was because he had All-American talent around him at basically every skill position in a one read offense, BUT, he could be the next Kurt Warner.
What's giving everyone heartburn is the compensation to get him, and that from the moment he plays he's going to have a HUGE target on his back. Hopefully he can handle pressure well, or everyone is getting fired.
I dunno, watching the film I often feel like there is no offensive or defensive line. Mac is just sitting back there going through progressions until someone is open and then throws a floaty pass that isn't even always all that accurate but his guy catches it because their offensive is loaded at every position. It's not that I don't think he can succeed in the NFL per se, but he can only really elevate a team if he gets to Brady like levels of precision, timing, etc.. I feel like taking that kind of gamble with a 3rd pick that you gave up two future 1sts to get is FAR too risky for Kyle. I think Jimmy will start the season and the pick is Fields or Lance, no doubt. I can see the cases for both, but if Kyle is getting risky why not pick the highest ceiling is kind of how I get to my final verdict. At 20 years old and with an arm that rivals Lawrence, I think that's Lance.
