Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

Will always be a part of the faithful as I have been for well over 30 years now. My favorite sport, sports team, and pastime is following and watching the 49ers.
Not to be overly dramatic, but If we take Mac Jones I am going to have to check out for a while. I simply cannot make sense of us trading away so much for a guy who I believe, at best, will be Kirk Cousins.

And the arguments they make are air-tight. Jones' strengths — decision-making, accuracy, anticipation, "winning before the snap", as they say — are everything Kyle Shanahan covets."

We already have a former top 10 pick QB who was a tennis player. Thanks we're good

Tennis and football: always complimentary sports. Doomed.

if you guys really think Kyle is taking Jones at 3 then I have some ocean front property for sale here in Wisconsin.

My buddy who's friends with the guy that works in the NFL put $500 on fields lol I said don't do that 😬

Last week NY you were saying you thought Lance would be the pick. Earlier this week you were making posts that outside of MM no 49er insider is pushing this Jones hype and plenty of respected analyst were saying don't believe the hype as well. Plus MM stated that's only his opinion. Now you seem to be buying into this Jones hype. When did your mind change?

I'll admit I have that unsettling feeling that the team will take Jones but I'm trying to appeal to reason. I'm holding onto hope here that Kyle wouldn't mortgage his job and multiple high picks on a decent but not great talent like Mac Jones at the number 3 slot in the draft. Kyle is a smart guy. I have to believe that he can look around him and see what kind of QBs are prospering in the NFL right now.

You're gonna take heat for that statement, but I feel ya 100%. Sucks if this is the guy. What a waste of draft picks.

All Jimmy did in college was throw deep balls.

What Eastern Illinois games did you watch? When I watched most of a few of them back in the 2016 offseason when there was some buzz about him, most of what I saw was a quick passing offense that resembled what New England does.

For example:

where are all the bombs?

Any highlight tape is going to have the deep passes. But the full or near full games I saw were mostly horizontal stuff with some occasional deep seams or streaks outside.

Of course, no one's drafting Jones for his mobility, and that's fine with him. Getting with teams by Zoom and going over plays on the board works to his strengths, and he's fine showing that off too.
"I've gotten a chance to show what I know, just watching our film," he said. "And sometimes we'll pull up games and plays from last year. And I'll remember every detail that all 20 people were doing. I don't know what it is, maybe I have a little bit of a photographic memory."

Shanny loves to break down plays like this with details on every person. He had to get wood on a zoom call with Mac.

Yeah, if he is the pick and turns out to be a great player, I will be the first to admit it I was wrong.
Apparently Jones is a Trumper and deleted all his tweets from august to Jan...I knew I hated this f**ker lol

I can handle my Edge rusher being an idiot not the face of the franchise

Look at that fluid footwork. Everyone pigeon-holing him under immobile and not athletic is 100% incorrect. He appears that way because of the other QBs that are coming out this year. Nobody would be calling him that if he came out in the Alex Smith/Aaron Rodgers draft.

NFL players tend to lean a bit to the left. You don't want a Qtarded Trumpanzee scaring away talent.

It's not remotely close to the main factor, but it matters some. Guys have to prove themselves when they have extreme right wing views before their teammates go to war with them.

I hate trump as much as anyone but Brady is a lowkey trump guy.... but then again this is california and the niners can't afford their QB being a Maga idiot

Brady keeps his mouth shut. His politics stay inside his private circles.
Seriously though, Mac Jones is polished as a QB can be in terms of technique, compact delivery, and recognition.

He would QB1 in the 2006 draft. And both of those 1st rounders turned out solid.

He most certainly ran a vertical spread offense.
