Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

Mac Jones is not Russell Wilson or Tom Brady. He was a backup to two quarterbacks before him and had time to learn the offense enough for the coordinators to know what he could do well and throw to unreal receivers. We're making too much of him to try to validate trading up for him.
MJ is a one hit wonder, 3 star recruit who barely started his final year at Bama, had a dream season but no way we draft him #3

Honestly, I thought if there was one moment in WZ history were everyone agreed on something it would be that in no way is Jones worth 3 1sts or should be the pick...yet there's still a couple out there all about it??

I read somewhere that Matt rhule was salivating over mac jones. I don't think he makes it past 10

He had 3 different coordinators. Daboll, Locksley, and Sarkisian. And yes, those two qbs are now starters on the NFL.
I want Fields to be the pick, but you guys knocking Mac Jones sound ridiculous with some of these posts.
Fields transferred because he couldn't beat out Fromm. Wilson wasn't recruited by the big dogs. Neither was Lance.

These are really good points

Another fun fact I learned today. Fields committed to Penn State, and then reneged and went to Georgia. And then he bailed on Georgia to go to Ohio State. How 'bout them apples. Sounds a little bit like a diva.

Nobody does less with more than Kirby Smart. He's the new Mark Richt.
... And Mac Jones got a couple of DUIs ... and Trey Lance competed against inferior competition to the Trinity League in high school. We are doomed, I say. Embrace it. I think in the end Shanahan and Lynch will go with Fields because if/when it blows up on them they will be better able to explain it in their future job interviews than they could if there were a Mac Jones debacle. If you pick Jones and it fails, they'll they the game has passed you by. I say this as someone who would prefer Jones, but I would have preferred him just standing pat at our original 12 spot. This trade just put a bunch of pressure on ourselves to pick a flawed prospect and turn them into a savior.

Kirby Smart pulled a Shanahan and picked the known quantity in Fromm who he felt could run his offense the best. Not the guy who might have some risks, since he had yet to start at that point, but if he hit would allow them to really complete with LSU and Alabama. He clearly made the wrong call.

Good post. The picks they gave up to draft Jones is just plain ridiculous. I think that's the root of people's problem with him more than the player himself. Jones is so uninspiring and vanilla as far as a player goes. His ceiling is Cousins, floor is Schaub? Not giving up 3 picks even if you guarantee he turns into Cousins. Fields ceiling is Watson/Wilson/Allen and floor is Tyrod Taylor? Aim high with Fields not aim in the middle....not for what they gave up. Heck would have rather stayed at 12 and see what shook out in the draft, could've moved up then. It was it is, if Jones is pick and it works: Kyle is a shrewd genius, no one saw that coming. If doesn't work out: what a dumbass ..the whole league saw that coming.. thanks for making it easier to defend your offense, Kyle.
I dub thee, pick no 3, Mac the Knife

Different coordinators and philosophy, same language and system. Even heard he helped Sarkisian learn the offense.

I'm not trying to hate on him. At 12, I'd understand. He has potential. Just get tired of the elite processor crap. With time and a good team, I'm sure he'll be fine.

PS Two first year starting qb's in not good situations who could very easily be on a ledge early. Hopefully Miami can get some tools to Tua to see what he's got.

PPS Did he get beat out or was it given to Fromm? :)

I thought he had 1DUI. He had 2? Or are we just now making stuff up.

Just read it somewhere. Who knows? It is the season of disinformation. Jones and Fields probably have war rooms of PR people putting out s**t about one another 24/7, knowing that whichever of them lands in San Francisco is going to have a hell of a lot better shot at a good career than the one landing at other QB-needy teams. Whoever goes to New England will probably have a good shot also, but Kyle has to be everyone's dream destination with his track record.

A lot of people are gonna think this is a joke but I'm kind of serious about it. The only way I will call him Mac is when he wins the Super Bowl I don't care if we draft him. There are some important macs out here that earned that name. You don't just get to be in the bay area and shorten your name because your name is horrible. you have to earn that title. Call Jones what you want but I will never refer to him as a Mac Jones until he wins the Super Bowl if he comes here. But until that point he is Maccorkle Jones Or however you spell it
