But Mac isn't the stiff athletically people make him out to be.
4.7 40, 7.04 3 cone are damn good times. A 32" vert means that he can dunk.
He's quick in the pocket and good hand-eye coordination from his years of playing tennis.
All of his test numbers are above average for QB's
Mac's Pro Day
Height: 6-2 5/8 Weight: 217
40-yard dash: 4.72, 4.68
Vertical jump: 32 inches
Broad jump: 9 feet, 8 inches
Shuttle: 4.39
3-cone: 7.04
Mac is a late bloomer who with a good workout regime could add 10+ pounds of muscle and still gain considerable strength and speed in both his arm and legs. He will get faster, quicker and a stronger arm. He hasn't had a serious workout regimen probably because Alabama didn't expect him to be the starter.

Have to be willing to actually workout to gain that 10 lbs of muscle and stop crushing chips Ahoy and beer. Big ask.
Speed and arm strength won't change.

I don't think so. Mac is a hard worker, he graduated college in 3 years and already has a masters degree so his focus was on his studies. Now all of his focus will be on QB and working out etc instead of getting his masters degree.
Speed can be improved. Why do you think they have speed coaches? I got a lot faster working out
Mac's arm strength is already good, he can throw it 65 yards. But arm strength can also be improved by working out.

His physique was good enough to dominate Fields and Ohio State in the National Championship.

Jones had no real bad games this last year...dominated college football and played the position at a level that set passing records including completion percentage and total QBR but it's used as an excuse against him because of the talent he played with. Fields on the other hand had 3 bad games in a shortened 8 game season playing exclusively against Big 10 opponents up until the playoffs and the Fields apologizers use the talent surrounding him as the excuse for his poor play and how he had to elevate himself around them.
Truth is they both played with loaded teams surrounded with talent at premium positions....difference is Mac did more with his opportunity while playing against the SEC than Fields did last year only facing Big 10 opponents.

Shoot that whole Bama team dominated Fields and the Buckeyes. Not just Jones. Was a collective beatdown effort. Pretty much what Bama did to everyone this year. That whole Bama team was on a fkn mission.
It does help when you have a freakin all star cast surrounding you week in week out.

I guess when you're 20-30 lbs flabby, then losing that weight would make you faster, carrying less of a boiler.
To be clear he ain't going 4.72 to 4.5. He's going 4.72 to 4.70.
