It's over 600 pages and people still referring to his as a statue.....

Its pretty clear he can move when he needs too. He looks like pre-acl Jimmy G mobile.

I think the video shows the 4.7 is probably closer to legit then not.

I wasn't aware it had been posted before, but I am sure I will post it again when someone tries to say Mac is a statue. Because it clearly shows he can move with the football. I would agree that some of the clips in that video shouldn't even be there. If I had made the video I would have cut out a few clips in there as they were really NOT that impressive. Maybe the guy was trying to make the video longer, I don't know why he added some of the clips. Jones will never be a running QB but there are some good clips in that video that show he has the athletism to scramble and the ability to throw well on the move.

What are you talking about, Jcool? The video shows him scrambling and throwing on the run. Things that people are saying he can't do.

You can make a video showing anyone can be a runner.

FYI Mac Jones ran 35 times for 14 yards last year.

Whatever, you can't photoshop a video.

He had 405 attempts last year. That video showed what 10 plays? What did he do on the 390 attempts? Find me a scouting report that uses the words dual threat QB.

I not saying he's a dual threat - just that there's video proof that he can evade and throw on the run in his game, even though he might just do it a couple of times.

When you watch them, do you feel like you saw a talent that would warrant 3 1st round picks?

While obviously, we wouldn't be drafting Mac For his athleticism. We would be drafting him for his talent as a passer. But that video clearly shows he has more athletic ability than people give him credit for. Also, I do think there are some throws on the move in that video that does say from a pure talent perspective that he is worthy to be taken at #3. There are some elite-level throws in that video of him throwing on the move.

Agree, Mac can execute some limited RPO's and can scramble to a decent degree. Add in Kyle's genius in creative pass plays and it's a match made in football heaven. Fields and Trey - to a certain extent - add to the run game more than the passing game from the git-go due to their athleticism. Again, key is that development of the intangibles in all three. I think all three can develop, but to a certain extent, Mac is a bit ahead of the other two in that area.

Hence the Video.......

Mac ran for first downs...... Yes he is a great QB and wants to throw the football, but when nothing is there....he has enough to try for the first down with his feet.

No one is calling the dude Mike Vick, but he looks like a 4.7 guy. He looks like Jimmy G running.

Of course, it's Mac's passing accuracy, processing speed, decision making, passion and leadership that is most attractive.

But Mac isn't the stiff athletically people make him out to be.
4.7 40, 7.04 3 cone are damn good times. A 32" vert means that he can dunk.
He's quick in the pocket and good hand-eye coordination from his years of playing tennis.

All of his test numbers are above average for QB's
Mac's Pro Day
Height: 6-2 5/8 Weight: 217
40-yard dash: 4.72, 4.68
Vertical jump: 32 inches
Broad jump: 9 feet, 8 inches
Shuttle: 4.39
3-cone: 7.04

Mac is a late bloomer who with a good workout regime could add 10+ pounds of muscle and still gain considerable strength and speed in both his arm and legs. He will get faster, quicker and a stronger arm. He hasn't had a serious workout regimen probably because Alabama didn't expect him to be the starter.

I think currently he's 22, and I think humans can continue grow and develop until the age of 25. If so, then all the above stats can improve naturally for another year or two, in addition to diet, exercise and other techniques.

Pro day numbers do lie.....a lot.

Didn't have a serious workout regimen? Bogus. Backups ARE allowed to workout, in fact they are expected to workout as much as starters.

Where is a video of him dunking? If he can throw down there's going to be a video of it somewhere.

Kaepernick was a workout warrior. I don't think it did him much good in the pocket, to tell you the truth.

It doesn't really prove much. I'll show you a highlight reel of Phillip Rivers running the ball that looks a lot like that and he's as much of a statue as anyone in the NFL. I once saw his running style described as being like a baby giraffe.

You can find video of anyone doing anything. Doesnt mean he is doing it enough to make it something you can count on.

Are you expecting Mac to be Philip Rivers?

Good point, and while Jimmy wasn't anywhere near Steve Young in mobility, he got this team to the super bowl. Now is Mac worthy of three number one picks? Well considering the bust rates of QB's in the first round, I don't think anybody knows until a couple of years down the road. *But, generally* if the bust rate for first round picks is so bad, then trading crap number 1 picks for the #3 pick with a high bust rate too, isn't that big a deal. Everybody points to the rams and other teams trading number 1 picks like they were nothing - and still have maintained a playoff presence, is an indicator of the questionable value of a first round pick, in the first place.

God no. Mac isn't going to be anywhere near as good as Rivers.

I'm just saying even baby giraffes get a decent run once in a while.
