Looks the Mac video was effective then....

He has graduated from statue to Baby Giraffe.....

Can we stop posting this video? Its now the 4th time someone tried to use it to show Mac Jones is a scrambler. I mean one "highlight" was a ball getting batted and he catches it and loses 2 yards.

I wasn't aware it had been posted before, but I am sure I will post it again when someone tries to say Mac is a statue. Because it clearly shows he can move with the football. I would agree that some of the clips in that video shouldn't even be there. If I had made the video I would have cut out a few clips in there as they were really NOT that impressive. Maybe the guy was trying to make the video longer, I don't know why he added some of the clips. Jones will never be a running QB but there are some good clips in that video that show he has the athletism to scramble and the ability to throw well on the move.

It doesn't really prove much. I'll show you a highlight reel of Phillip Rivers running the ball that looks a lot like that and he's as much of a statue as anyone in the NFL. I once saw his running style described as being like a baby giraffe.

Is this the go-to video to combat Mac Jones Rush highlights or something? Must be since two people posted it back to back lol. That rivers video looks like it is in slow motion and I am not sure if it actually is or not. So I don't know why people are combating that video with this.

Let me say again. I don't think Mac will ever be a running QB. One of the things I hear most of MaC. Is that he is just going to play from within the pocket and will need an amazing offensive line to be successful. The video I posted shows he can move the pocket. Throw both moving to his right and left. Even enough mobility to evade free rushers. use his legs to buy extra time. And yes also every once in a blue moon take off and pick up a few positive yards instead of potentially taking a sack.

Mac isn't Marino but he isn't even on Jimmy G's level of athleticism (pre ACL)

Agree, and I'll just add, that I think, at least in Kyle's offense, a QB using his athleticism to buy time in the pocket is much more valuable than being able to run for yardage on the ground.

One way to use a QB's athleticism is the Roman Offense with Lamar Jackson. But the guys that are winning super bowls are the guys that stay in the pocket.

Thats the beauty of fields: he is a pocket passer who also has elite athleticism. Why would you settle for Mac??

Fields is a true dual threat.

You Say that but Mac put up better numbers than Jimmy from an Athletism standpoint in multiple categories coming out during the draft.

Mac had a significantly better 40 time than Jimmy.
A better vertical.

They had the exact same three-cone time.

So I am not sure how you can say Mac is not on Jimmy Gs level of Athleticism.

You can settle for Mac if you are the HC and pretty much control the whole franchise.

But, to a certain extent, if you have a strong run game - say top 10 - you can get away with a Statue of a QB, because opposing teams will stay in base defense for a big part of the game because of the run threat. QB's in those type of run heavy teams will rarely have to run to escape a sack because they will be very rarely be on 3rd and longs with a consistent powerful ground game.

Fields is a rare talent that you move up in the draft to get.

If these guys were whiskey then Fields would be a bottle of Pappy. It's rare, everybody wants one, and you know it'll cost you but it's worth it. Jimmy is a bottle of Makers Mark. It's less rare and there is better out there, but it's still pretty good and you can enjoy it and it'll do. Mac is a bottle of Ancient Age. It's not very good on its own, but if you mix it with enough good stuff it's not bad.
I understand some people's disappointment in drafting jones, but the haters are so irrational when it comes to evaluating him. It's like he isn't even worth a 5th round pick. The guy will be a good starter for years.

Mac Jones #2 overall
Justin Fields #3
Zach Wilson #4

I agree with his point about Wilson being out of place in NYC though. I think he would fit in much better here in SF.

I think his point about Wilson's shoulders was a bit of an eye opener also. He's had two shoulder surgeries playing in high school and college against opponents that won't compare with the studs that'll be hitting him in the NFL.
