Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

Adam Shefter - "Oh, It'll be Mac Jones." He later backtracked, probably because he spilled the beans.

Mel Kiper:
With Trevor Lawrence expected to land with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Zach Wilson with the New York Jets, and Jones anticipated to join San Francisco, Get Up! host Mike Greenberg asked Kiper if he considers the first three selections in this year's draft to be a lock.
"I think they are a lock, right now," Kiper responded.

Phil Simms:
"I think it's Mac Jones, I do," Simms told Mike Florio on "PFT Live." "I don't know that. But just knowing my friend, knowing his history, knowing his school of thought to make that type of move, that's the one that makes sense to me.

Grant Cohn:
"Mac Jones would be a huge upgrade over Nate Sudfeld for the 49ers."

Kyle Shanahan:
"I love Kirk Cousins."

Wby the 2 narratives?
"The 49er front office is tight-lipped, no leaked info on who they want."

"It's Mac Jones, I'm sure of it"

Which side you are on depends on who you really want them to draft. Nobody knows s**t, least of all room-temperature-IQ twins Kiper and Greenberg.
Don't be blasphemous, Mac Jones is not Eli either. Eli went to Ole Miss and turned a bottom team into an SEC competitor. Eli may have been one of the toughest quarterbacks I have ever seen in college football. For a long time and maybe now, I respected him over his brother. let's not get crazy around here!

PS At OLE FRIGGIN MISS!!!

I get it, you like Mac. But have you no respect!

All of this Eli comparison is ridiculous, but let me chime in. For a start if any of these guys have a career like Eli they'll have been worth the pick. 2 Superbowls and in the HOF conversation will do.

If you're comparing Eli to Mac, you're ignoring that Eli is 3 inches taller, and had an absolute cannon compared to Mac.

People remember the washed up Eli behind the battered Giants O-Line, well guess what you'll get if you don't protect Mac Jones

People keep bringing up Justin Fields' bad games, and that's fine but all QB's struggle somewhat when a defense can get pressure with 4 guys, (Tom Brady Vs Giants as we're on the subject) that has never happened to Mac Jones, and it's a huge projection to suggest how he'll handle it.

Mac has been pressured regularly. He has an online advantage, but let's not overstate his protection.

Eli BTW was absolutely magic in college. What he did with that team was amazing. Payton likely would have done worse on that team.

I would take rookie Eli over Rookie Jones 100 out of 100 times. I would take Rookie Eli over every QB in this draft. Rookie Eli with shanny would be insane.

You've got to be looking at these stats and counting the pressures where the D have sent 5 or 6 guys and he's picked them apart.

I'm not overstating his protection. I watched the Florida game in full, focussing on Landon Dickerson (who I love) he got beat once all game.

We have been watching Bama for 2 years. Last year for wr, this year for Jones. Everyone has seen Bama's line beat from time to time. It's false to say he has not faced pressure by 4 rushers.

I am an auburn guy, and was at the Iron bowl....you act like the guy has never been pressured.
Watched the first half of the LSU game, 12/12 3 TD's at one point and ended with 470.

0 pressures AT ALL and one difficult throw, again I don't ding people for things that aren't their fault, but I do try to project to a Sunday and this game (so far) tells you NOTHING about him as a pro prospect.

There was one snap I thought was a pressure, but it was a screen!

I'm not saying no snaps under pressure, but I am saying I've never seen it happen consistently to him for a game
Just my daily vent, I'm going to f**kin lose it if we draft this tubby piece of s**t 😤

also I'll gladly eat crow all day if he turns out to be a winner.
There is no universe that exists where Mac Jones will be drafted over Justin Fields.

Sounds a lot like the Nebraska game vs Ohio St. Fields basically Sat in a clean pocket all day while passing to wide open recievers.

In his career at Alabama, he threw the ball 556 times and was sacked 16 times. Protection doesn't get much better than that.

Jimmy threw 140 times in 2020 and was sacked 11 times.
To see Mac Jones' 2020 in a nutshell, just look at his 5 TDs in the Championship game.

Three of them were at or behind the LOS.
One of them was thrown off his back foot, about 6 yards past the LOS, and required a one handed catch followed by a great effort by Harris to score.
One was thrown to a wide open Heisman trophy winning WR with a linebacker trying to cover him.
