Does that make it better?
There are 5 QBs being talked about at the top of the board. 1 of them has a history of DUI and racist photos. He's also the least talented of the group.
Seems like a pretty easy call to take him off your board.
1 DUI is not a history of DUI's. And just because we haven't heard, does not mean that these other kids don't have things we don't know about. We didn't know about Laremy Tunsil's Marijuana use until 10 minutes to the draft when his Twitter was hacked and that video came out, some teams took him off their board entirely and some didn't.
He didn't post the photo so he doesn't have a history of racist photos that we can factually point to. All we do know is his sister posted the photo and she tagged his account in the tweet.
A DUI in your history is exactly what a history of DUI is. And it doesn't matter who posted it. He's the guy at the center of said racist photo. And now we are hearing about a bunch of scrubbed social media for Jones. What else was in there?
BTW, deleting those posts only deleted the link to them in the database, it doesn't delete them from existence. They are out there, somewhere.
One arrest, not a conviction as a minor and then a clear process towards redemption might be more valued than a perfect record.
You're arguing that it's actually a positive thing to get a DUI?
He also wasn't a minor. 19 is a fully grown and self-accountable adult as much people may want to pretend otherwise.
I'm arguing that a comeback story from a mistake that is owned up to and used as a form of motivation to be a better person is in many ways valued in this country.
You guys are so stuck up on a DUI as a 19 year old and are using it to define who he is a human being today and forever.
It would be one thing if he repeated this mistake to become a lifetime f up like Chad Kelly or Ryan Leaf but according to reports he's used it to make himself a better player and person. That he instead of going out as a young adult in college he instead took a new more mature route to his life. I bet it played a huge part in motivating him to put in the hard work in school to graduate with both his undergrad and masters while he grinded away waiting for his chance to prove himself on a national championship team.
This story won't drag him down in the eyes of the decision makers IMO.

I didn't know the Cards, Rams, and Seahawks added up to 98% of the league.

Would not touch Jones with a 10 ft pole. Have him as a 6th round pick. His processing is poor and falls apart under pressure.

Wow! That's strong! You do you but I struggle to believe that take can be borne out of reasoned, objective evaluation.

Fair enough, but you normally need some context for sarcasm.
Funnily enough that's pretty much my assessment of Kyle Trask though!

I am just assuming it has to be teams who desperately want the Niners to draft the worst QB.

I'll take Jones or Fields - both will have good careers.

Yeah I doubt Lombardi has that kind of inside on 98 percent of the league.
This, Lombardi has been wrong so many times...there's MORE than 2% of the league that have come out an said they don't buy the Jones smoke already lol. Gonna be funny when he's wrong...again

So what is your relation to Jones? Imagine going to bat for all that as a redemption story then trying to blow up any possible imperfection with Fields.

IIRC Lombardi said that Kyle wanted Mac Jones and Lynch Lance or Fields, and that basically there was a rift in the front office between Kyle and the rest of the guys.
Of course, you have guys like Rappaport or Albert Breer that said that nobody outside of a few people inside the organization knows who´s gonna be the pick.
I ´m still amazed by all these people that know 100% that Mac Jones was the pick all along. The same people that didn´t know the Niners were gonna trade up.
The pick could be Mac Jones, Justin Fields or Trey Lance, I don´t have a clue. But I´m certain that a no point, there was a leak.

The hate is simply childish. He simply represents the non-athletic flashy off-schedule big play guy. Mac just isn't "exciting." Simple as that. He's the classic drop back pocket passer who moves the offense methodically down the field for a TD vs. a guy who gets real or ghost-pressure, scrambles behind the LOS for over 3 seconds and heaves a 50 yard bomb for a TD...like Fields' pro day workout. Fans get so excited about that.
This is an oversimplification. The man is consistently out of shape (anyone else out of shape drops their draft stock rather than rising). IT is fair to be wary of a QB who had the perfection situation at all levels around him because he wont have that in the NFL.
Have you ever fast tracked an early undergraduate and master's degree while learning a Steve Sarkisian playbook? Yeah...you don't have time for squat (literally and figuratively).
Let him get into an NFL building where football is 24/7.
This is such an excuse...How many guys draft stock tanked because they were too smart and didn't love football enough to make it their priority? See how easily they twist whatever it is to take out other prospects but Mac gets a pass.
It's a reality if you've ever completed a master's degree. But hey, even without hitting the gym, he managed to become a first round QB...so he did it right. Let's let these guys get in NFL training programs before we start lusting over their abs.

Those are the teams that wishes we would take Mac Jones at three having given this much draft capital to do it but we're not
