Of those three I think Brees needed a better ol than the other two, probably because of his height. Arm talent I'll just say coming out of college none of those three were touted for having a cannon. It's the main reason people wanted to see leaf go over manning.

Please tell me what bad OL Brady has played behind? They had one of the best OL coaches in NFL history. Brees has constantly had resources poured in the OL...just go ask NC he's been talking about it for yrs.

you got an un athletic in the pocket quarterback...you HAVE to protect them. is kyle gonna invest there? He's shown he doesn't give a s**t about PP overall especially in the interior.

And no they didn't have cannons but it wasn't looked at as a negative either. Minus Brees all those dudes were MUCH bigger than Jones too.

Mac is the same size as Andy Dalton

manning was 6-5 230LBs Brady was 6-5 225LBs

I see a lot of burrow in Jones as well. Really similar imo. I read an article last week that a lot of nfl guys are making the comparison too.

Former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but the Heisman Trophy winner believes his physical traits are "limited" compared to other quarterback prospects in the class.

"I think it's my mental capacity in the game," Burrow said last week at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. "I prepare better than anybody else. My physical traits are limited compared to some of the guys here. Everyone can see it.

"I have to be smarter. I have to prepare better and I have to know what's happening before it happens so I can play fast."

Burrow chose not to participate in drills at the combine. Those drills included a 40-yard dash, throwing sessions, vertical jump and more. They also gave NFL teams exact times and measurements used to compare players and decide who they want to draft.

Players could show off their strong arms, speed, quickness and overall athleticism during the exercises -- traits for which Burrow is not known

The former Tigers star led the nation in touchdown passes, passing yards and completion percentage in 2019-2020, leading LSU to a national championship. He is mostly known for his intangibles, like poise and mobility inside the pocket. Those factors can't be measured on a stopwatch or with a tape measure.

Burrow likened to Brady

Burrow has drawn NFL comparisons to Tom Brady and Kurt Warner. Brady also entered the league with what were considered limited physical traits and became a sixth round pick in the 2000 draft. Burrow was projected as a late round pick, as well, before his spectacular season at LSU.

Warner famously went from a grocery store shelf stocker to an undrafted free agent, signing with the St. Louis Rams in 1998. He won the NFL MVP award in his first year as a starter before winning two Super Bowls.

Burrow has modeled his game after another quarterback, childhood idol Drew Brees.

Burrow also studied other great quarterbacks to design his weekly blueprint before games. He tries to prepare exactly like Peyton Manning, Brady and Brees.

"I think it starts in preparation," Burrow said. "I'm really confident in my preparation. I feel like I prepare better than everyone else. That's why I'm so confident, because i feel like I know what's going to be happening on Saturdays before it happens.

"Hopefully, I can carry that to Sundays with the help of veterans and coaches that are there [in the NFL]."

Wonder if Burrow could have avoided significant injury had he possessed better physical traits to escape the pocket?

Also, if there were a redraft today, Herbert would be the pick.

Nothing against Mac Jones but it´s not the same talent.

Right? Why according to Rap is there no teams he's spoken to that have him in their top 3? Why did Allbright say if SF doesn't draft him he could easily fall out of the top 10?

if he was truly looked at as Burrow he's top 2 without question.

You complained about it for 2 yrs...you think kyle changes his ways? I don't...Jones NEEDS to have structure. He needs to use all his mechanics and to be able to set his feet to make accurate throws and passes downfield...how in gods green earth is he gonna have that here? What he has in Bama is NOT what he's gonna have here and you KNOW this.

the league is changing. The kids that are learning to play QB ARE young athletic talents, they're learning to play the position from the head up as well...if you don't believe me go do some research on the 5 star recruits coming up. Go listen to Dilfer who runs elite 11.

My God man, just look at the playoffs this past year: Brady, Brees, Ben, Rivers.

You are correct. Miami is kicking themselves at taking Tua over him...you know they went for football IQ, mechanics, accuracy over a guy who had all that BUT had elite unteachable traits.

scheme fit over talent is a recipe for failure imo.

Let the real fans cheer for their team. The rest will bandwagon jump when we start winning.

Bandwagon lol. I've rooted for jeff kemp, Bono, Grbac, Dorsey, dilfer, Troy Smith, alex Smith, Garcia, JTO, Rattay, f**king Shaun Hill, Kap, Gabbert, Beathard, Hoyer, Mullens, Jimmy etc...

sorry some fans are f**king done with avg QBs with limited ceilings...we've been waiting 20+ yrs for SF to make a legit play at a top rookie QB with elite talents and a high ceiling. Sorry we see other teams have QBs that can make s**t happen with unlimited potential.

what's so wrong with wanting MORE vs another system QB with no elite traits and a limited ceiling? It's alex Smith vs Rogers all over again (worse actually with what we've given up) how do you not see this?

My favorite guys. "I love my team more than you because I question nothing and I won't have any opinion that differs from my coach" 🐑

Bingo.

And I bet if you look. back there's definitely some criticism from these same people on former coaches/players etc but I guess it's just people who disagree with them that are bandwagon fans. FOH

It's true. Athleticism is becoming a feature in QB when it used to be a crutch. When this next wave of QBs mature, they'll be the ones perennially winning championships. The trend is clear the next great QB will be a Brady who runs 4.4.
Lmao the fact that there is a legit petition is pretty hilarious cause people think that will make a difference.

100% agree. People dismissing Jones because magically all of a sudden all you can win with is an athletic QB LOL.

Qbs like the guys mentioned make their o lines a lot better than they really are by making pre snap reads and getting rid of the ball extremely quickly, especially when a blitz is read. That's why you don't see a whole lot of jailbreaks be Manning and Brady.
Also, Fields o line was just as talented as Jones....they've got at least 2 or 3 2nd or 3rd rounders there.

This is why I still think they traded up for Fields while also liking Jones and knowing Lance was worth a deeper look. I don't know if any other team thats been rumored to have Jones over Fields.

Kyle's comment that these guys are going higher than people think is what makes me think this dips**t overpaid for his guy (Jones) again tho.

Also if the consensus top 4 QB go in the first 9 picks Jones is obviously the best left and a first round grade who can start right away. He'll go higher than originally thought as almost all qb do.

Four days til Mac Jones day! I literally can't wait, hoping the whiny b***hy half of this fan base finds another team to root for. These Mac Jones haters are the reason why I've had to deal with raiders fans calling us forty whiners my whole life 🤣

Calling out fans as whiny b***hes? And saying we won't root for his team...lol grow up

Starting petitions and threatening to destroy your own property because a football team drafts a kid who's barely old enough to drink....lol grow up

Exactly lol... I started this thing thinking the pick would be Fields and hoping it would be Lance. At this point anyone but Mac will be a bit of a disappointment to me for a minute just because I don't wanna root for the same team as these cry babies. It's honestly embarrassing. I know I'm from a different generation, was raised in the 80's and we view the world very differently than the younger crowd. But posting on this board leading up to the draft has really been eye opening. People who never played a snap of college football think they're more qualified to make this pick than the guy getting paid millions a year that has literally grown up with a head coach for a father. And it's not just that they think they know better than him... They want him fired for making the pick before the guy even plays a game in some cases. Lol it's too much. Forty whiners was fighting words when I was growing up but man if it doesn't fit now I dunno what does.

All hail the perfect fan, roasthawg!

He's such a perfect fan he'd rather his team get worse just to piss of other fans.

Truly a role model for all.
