Wait, you still believe a mobile QB transcends poor pass protection? You just watched a generational QB in Mahomes get reduced to a high school QB.
My stance on PP in SF is it badly needs to be improved no matter the style of QB.
You could make the case the more mobile QB causes more negative plays (INT's, fumbles, huge losses on sacks, penalties, etc.) because his instinct is to use his athletic ability to be a hero vs. just throwing it away to live another down.
I believe being able to make throws off platform and not needing a clean pocket to set your feet is important when you don't have a top OL. Especially when your a young QB in the NFL
Like Cosell said Mac simple can't do this...he will need a top end OL and if Kyle isn't gonna invest...then what? It will be no different then what we had with Jimmy. Plain and simple. Throwing it to live another down doesn't win games if you have to do it all the time because the OL isn't great.
You are aware that every single QB of all time make regular off platform throws. And you don't need to be athletic to do it. Hell, you don't even need to leave the pocket to do it.
As to PP...it needs to be improved either way as it has negative affects on both styles of QB's. That's been proven time and time again. So much so that defenses simply bring pressure differently but it still affects the QB in a negative fashion.
Now, if you're talking about off schedule plays, same concept. The 3-4 that happen every game, are run by both mobile and less athletic QB's.
