Sure it would. Simms knows Shanahan well and everyone knows that Simms knows Shanahan well. Even if they didn't talk at all about the QB's in the draft, it reasonable to assume that Simms has pretty good insight into what Shanahan likes so when he came out firing with Jones as the guy the 49ers were most likely to take, it wasn't all that hard for many others in the media to follow along. Its the same way everyone was sure that the Browns were taking Darnold a few years ago, only for them to take Mayfield. Cleveland didn't leak a thing, people just assumed.

Or the Raiders taking a speedster at WR every year.

It is way overblown. I actually like his body type for a rookie. I don't mind that he has a little bit of body fat. He has a very good build to be able to add significant muscle and additional strength too once he reaches the NFL without becoming overly muscular. If anyone is going to significantly improve out of these QBs from a physical standpoint it is going to be Mac. Fields and Lance If they add too much more muscle they risk becoming to muscular for an ideal QB build.

I'm just saying that if you want to be the third pick in the draft you should put work in to look the part. Injuries are an unfortunate part of our recent history, and taking pride in building an NFL caliber body while you're in college shows you're on another level of preparedness. Mac looks like he's been having fun, which I can totally understand as I was also once a 22 year old. The other two, however, seem to take more pride in getting NFL ready in all facets between brain and build.

Seems you might put too much emphasis on appearance. Frankly I don't give a crap as long as the QB can move the ball from Point A to Point B accurately and consistently. If he's putting in work in film study, if he's putting in work on his mechanics and if he can handle himself reasonably well in the gym, I don't care if he doesn't look like Tim Tebow or Brady Quinn.

You're mischaracterizing my argument. I just want to see a guy who takes pride in getting to NFL shape as taking hits from Aaron Donald and JJ Watt four times a year means you need the mass to withstand that. I can't stand QBs who obsess in the weight room and never made such an argument. There's a lot of gray area between being Kaep and obsessing over physique and taking pride in your frame before you reach the pros.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think it makes sense for the multitude of "insiders" to all follow the same thought process, considering Fields and Lance are both generally considered better prospects.

Brady did, but again, he's a unicorn. Manning wasn't Adonis, but he also didn't have bologna slices for pecs.

Manning had such a pinner little physique. I'm not gonna search for pics but he was like an overgrown child.

Who's to say Mac won't be a unicorn too? Shouldn't that be the hope at pick three?

Are you sure you're interpreting Cossell's comments? I thought he meant, he's not a guy who's going to outrun a free defender if Silverback goes down. Just asking...

Because his feet seem to be super quick and you see him throwing off platform esp. when he's about to get clocked.

He said he can't make off script plays and off platform throws. He's a in structure QB. He needs things to be right in front of him, he will know where to go with the ball a ton of the time...under structure.

Jimmy had "quick feet" and a lighting quick release when he came to SF, now look at him. I just don't legit think this kid is worth 3 1sts and is some massive improvement over Jimmy. He will need what Jimmy needed here and you damn well know Kyle isn't gonna make that happen.

This guy is in absolutely incredible shape...injured all the time.

Brady doesn't believe that QB's should be lifting weights period......he's 80 years old and still playing in the NFL.

Simms has Jones ahead of Fields and has for awhile. Why wouldn't the other media people believe Kyle's BFF? Either everyone has latched on to Kyle having a type or the media is just a bunch of lemmings following each other right off a cliff.

Again, you're mischaracterizing my argument. I won't argue with a strawman, but I hope you've enjoyed searching for pics of shirtless QBs.

Haha, can I play too? Jackson, Mahomes, Allen. Terrible argument.

Jackson's been turrible in the playoffs. Thus far he's looked like a regular season stud, postseason dud. And if your guy can't get it done in the playoffs then what has this even been all about?

I think you don't know how this works. Guess who pays the bills for a football team. The fans. They stop showing up, stop tuning in, and stop buying merch and guess who quick the owner is going to s**t-can everyone involved.

But please, do go on about how owners don't care about what fans think about the team.

You trade up with all that draft capital, and then draft a guy 95% of the fans HATE, and then the team is worse than when the guy he replaced was there.....What's there to look forward to? You aren't getting any new players because you don't have picks and can't afford high priced FA's and they don't want to come anyway.

You better be damn sure he's going to be Manning or else you're fired and nobody is EVER going to hire either of them to run a franchise again.

I think Kyle will be fine as long as Mac wins games. Keep in mind Kyle is a genius in his own way, and if Mac (or Trey/Lance) fits in Kyles system, Kyles genius will make any of these 3 QBs better than if they were in another system. As long as Kyle wins the fans will pay and continue to be fans.

Holy s**t this is gold. He's a monster dick, but he's being totally honest here lol

Susweel does a better job in my opinion. He runs circles around Grant Cone. He steals a ton of stuff from Sus.

I understand the argument but you're acting like everyone builds muscle at the same rate and you just need to spend X amount of hours in the gym and it doesn't work that way. Some people just have far better genetics for it, some people struggle to put on any real muscle period. From my experience, its not at all uncommon for guys who have been skinny all their lives to go nuts trying to build muscle so they go on some crazy bulking diet, eating 7,000-8,000 calories a day and the end result is that they wind up stronger but looking skinny chubby.

Jones seems to have the bodytype where he's probably not going to ever be very muscular unless he starts dipping into the Barry Bonds flaxseed oil stash.

but I hope you've enjoyed searching for pics of shirtless QBs.

We're going in circles. I get it, I just don't think that the "group think" answer would resonate on Jones without some team information (either leak or smokescreen)

And Brady is the exception not the rule. I don't care about the body that much anyway. I do want a QB that is in shape and not working out on a PT spin wheel to do lunges lol.

I just don't think he's a very big QB overall. Toss in the overall lack of athletic ability and a piss poor PP line

Are we talking about a bodybuilding contest or are we talking about playing football?

If he's able to do split squats with this kind of load, I think he's doing just fine for a QB.

Some people just don't put on muscle very easily and Jones seems to have all the hallmarks of a typical hard-gainer.
Not a true split squat.. Get out of the rack, hands on barbell, pause on the bottom don't bounce your knee off the mat. 2 reps?!!
