is what it is get ready for McCorkle...what a joke. The NFCW is loving this. GMs and FOs are loving that Kyle isn't getting an elite talent at QB. Whatever at this point. You have about 10% of the fan base happy over this move...I'm sure it will go over great
That's a really good point. It's why this whole Mac thing makes little sense. On one hand they're signaling that Kyle can win with a system QB and on the other they're mortgaging our future for that QB. You don't mortgage the future for that guy. You grab him at a good value when other teams froth over the high potential guys, thus keeping the rest of the team stocked with high picks. And if you miss out on the heady guy who is an extension of the coach, then you sign a Cousins or wait to draft him another time, or trade up on draft day without giving up two firsts and a third. Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I can't make sense out of it.
I look at it differently. If I have a system where I need a *certain kind of player* to operate my *Entire* system and make it click, I would overvalue that player. It also goes reverse, if you have a unique system that doesn't need a first round RB -- because its a unique system -- then you can go with an undrafted RB. Another example is how a Demeco defense works better with a top of the line edge rusher versus a more traditional 3-4 DE. So I think Kyle has to get the guy he needs (that he thinks he needs) to operate his system. If he has to spend 3 number ones, that's ok, because it is compensated by allowing undrafteds (for example - RBs) to work in the system.
