I mean his receivers dropped 5 passes all year. So this video probably has every single drop in the entire season on it.

Link?

Haven't seen it but if that's true you can definitely see why him and Kyle Shanahan will get along so well. After every loss they can both get together and talk about how things that went wrong weren't actually their faults and if they could go back in time they would have done the exact same thing.

Vibes of McNabb to the eagles for sure. I thought we were different than that. We used to be as a fanbase but I guess times are changing.
First: I am amazed at the train wreck that this thread has become. The hate amongst many of you is disgusting. This is a sport, you're all fans, you have real lives separated from this. Put 100 people in a room and interview them about the franchise individually, there will be 100 depending different outlooks not a single one will be identical.

Second: What's with the everyone's obsessions with these men's bodies? I'm sorry but many of the best football players of the game have not been immaculate chiseled body types or people with massive muscle mass. In the more recent decades people like Jerome Bettis, big Ben, the Manning bros, Montana, Gore (always pudgy), Burfict, Brady, Marshawn, Rodgers, Winston, Stafford, Rivers, ect. Most of these players were very good in the NFL and many going to the HOF or in it. Athleticism comes in all different body types, some are just freaks. I remember running a mile and a half in about 10:15 at 5'8" 165 lbs around 10% bf, dude about 5'9" with a gut, skinny ass legs, looked Mr incredible like but fat running by me doing it in 9:03. Dude ran distance all the time it turned out and wrestled. Some bodies just look and work different, and id argue in a contact sport, extra weight if you can maint speed is a good thing. Sure there is an ideal weight, size, and muscle tone but it isn't 100%, especially when discussing the QB position. Look at Jimmy, dude is a brick house and is constantly injured. Some people's bodies mature very late as well, like mid 20's before they actually look like Men instead of children. Mac isn't in College anymore either and will be spending. 8-12 or more hours a day at the team facilities. He will be in an NFL workout program, his body WILL get stronger. Look at Nick Mullens, he himself said he became stronger and increased his arm strength while with the Niners since college. The body can and will always change, everyone knows that. I have worked out constantly since I was 14 years old. I was constantly stalky built like a box but never big, about 165-170 10-18% bf, definitely the higher end in College lol. I was 145 in high school 8% bf while playing base ball and racing motorcross. Once I hit 28 the Muscle started sticking, the workouts didn't change much, I'm now 226lbs about 13% BF, no bs steroids or HGH, my body just matured and I kept moderate workouts up. Reason I say all this is we know the body and mind changes. Don't put all your judgements on the simple appearance of someone.

Third: Mac has put good mechanics on tape, ability to take a hit and get up, good anticipation for routes, and accurate throws. If he's the pick I'm rooting hard for him because I love this team. If its Lance or fields I'm rooting hard for them because I love this team. Those dudes will look mean as hell in the uniform I'm sure. What's important though is that Kyle gets HIS guy not ours. He is the one that falls on the sword if it fails or claims his title if right. Have your favorites for sure but let's not burn each other to the ground.

Edit: I'm 35 now about 224 18% bf lol. Still working out but no way in hell I can run a 10:15 mile and half lolololololol. And beer is back in my diet just like in college lol.

I mean when you break the all-time college record for completion percentage there is not going to be many incompletions period. I wasn't trying to say his WRs were regularly dropping passes. Just that there are some more dime throws in that video people don't see on highlight reels because people don't put incomplete passes on highlight reels.

If someone was processing like Brady/Manning/Brees, I don't care how much you can extend play, you should not be able to beat them out, and if you did, you wouldn't be able to hold them off for long. If Brady/Manning/Brees was torching the best defense in the country in practice everyday, you would find a way to get him on the field.

Hmm I have ESPN+ but it's telling me that episode isn't available yet. I will check it out though along with the other top QB's.

100% accurate. I put on a bunch of size at about 22/23 as well. I have a muscular physique but am a very average athlete. It's literally all for show. Mac would destroy me at any sport I'm sure but I look better with my shirt off. Means nothing at the qb position above all others. The tape is what matters. I've watched all the breakdowns and it's obvious that the question with Mac isn't whether or not he'll be good but moreso whether or not he'll be great. He processes at an elite level for a college qb. That quality translates well to the nfl. His arm talent is definitely the thing that might keep him from greatness. Not his legs, not his physique. Like Kurt Warner said, the guy is a starter... The only question is can he make enough off platform throws to carry a team? No one knows that answer yet, it remains to be seen.

You do know Brady was a backup his first two seasons in college and then was in a platoon with Henson during his senior season right? Tus was a top ten talent and was already established before Mac got there. No way he was beating that guy out. Where it got interesting was this season when some people thought the five star kid bryce young might win the job. Was never close though.

I don't hate Mac Jones. He's just a bad pick at 3, 33, 63, 93, etc. Most people do not know what they are looking for when evaluating QBs so they look at the video above and assume it is some authoritative piece. The problem with most QBs that at big programs in at the college football is that they rarely have to deal with adversity. They have pockets that are big enough to drive a truck threw and they rarely get hit.

Dr. Phil makes excuses for missing a wide open throw across the middle with no pressure saying well the guy caught the ball, which is a ridiculous point of view. Almost all throws that Jones makes in that video are in wide open throwing lanes with little to no pressure with receivers who are usually open by a few yards. Most QBs in Div 1 can make those throws in those type of conditions with similar accuracy.

The biggest issue with Jones is he has too few reps in situations that approximate NFL scenarios.

This is why QBs from "top programs" repeatedly fail at the NFL level. They win and perform well at the college because they are put into ultra optimal situations and they have have every advantage. However, when it comes time for dealing with suboptimal they don't have enough reps in adverse situations to determine if they are suitable for the NFL.

As far as body composition goes it matters. Pointing at an anomaly like Brady and his pasty physique doesn't mean that it is acceptable or reason to be in such form just because one guy went from being a poor representation of an athlete into a all-timer.

Roasthawg - is your name in reference to the sec? So an Alabama fan? Just wonder why you are so hardcore Mac jones, criticize 49ers fans against Mac, and joined in March 2021? Will you be here if Mac stinks? I've been here a while and high five you for being right but feel like you will disappear when wrong as I suspect
