Also, some Great throws that were dropped by receivers that many people who haven't watched all of his game tape have seen before. The guy who made the video might like Mac more than me and I didn't think that was possible.

Haters are going to be extra mad when Mac is balling under Shanny.

"I'm so glad Shanahan took his guy"

Love this! Tape never lies! I didn't know Mac ran a 4.68 40. whats all this nonsense with he's a statue? You know damn well most of you could never run a 4.68 40

Calling out fans as whiny b***hes? And saying we won't root for his team...lol grow up

Starting petitions and threatening to destroy your own property because a football team drafts a kid who's barely old enough to drink....lol grow up

Exactly lol... I started this thing thinking the pick would be Fields and hoping it would be Lance. At this point anyone but Mac will be a bit of a disappointment to me for a minute just because I don't wanna root for the same team as these cry babies. It's honestly embarrassing. I know I'm from a different generation, was raised in the 80's and we view the world very differently than the younger crowd. But posting on this board leading up to the draft has really been eye opening. People who never played a snap of college football think they're more qualified to make this pick than the guy getting paid millions a year that has literally grown up with a head coach for a father. And it's not just that they think they know better than him... They want him fired for making the pick before the guy even plays a game in some cases. Lol it's too much. Forty whiners was fighting words when I was growing up but man if it doesn't fit now I dunno what does.

All hail the perfect fan, roasthawg!

He's such a perfect fan he'd rather his team get worse just to piss of other fans.

Truly a role model for all.

This is a really dumb comment, but then you are stuck making comments like this. I feel for you.

No I'd rather trust the guys getting paid millions to run the team who have already taken us to the sb. If whiny b***hy little fans get weeded out in the process even better as far as I'm concerned. All in on Mac

Whoa! I just got hit with a 2 x 4 truth blast.

Lol it's the truth though isn't it? Everyone has a right to their opinions and to root for or against who they want. But isn't it annoying as s**t by this point? I hope Mac is the guy just to spite the cry babies. I claim no special insight as to who will be the better pro between the three. I'm leaving that to shannahan and co to figure out. If they get it wrong it's their careers not mine. But niner fans have gone full on philly/ny fans at this point when it comes to Mac. Full melt down mode to the point they don't even wanna give the kid a chance. I'm not with it... All things equal gimme Mac and let's watch Shannahan prove the world wrong and shut these whiners up. If we can clean up the fan base a bit in the process even better lol.

Vibes of McNabb to the eagles for sure. I thought we were different than that. We used to be as a fanbase but I guess times are changing.

Roasthawg - is your name in reference to the sec? So an Alabama fan? Just wonder why you are so hardcore Mac jones, criticize 49ers fans against Mac, and joined in March 2021? Will you be here if Mac stinks? I've been here a while and high five you for being right but feel like you will disappear when wrong as I suspect

No my name is unrelated. I'm here for the draft, got super excited when we traded up and wanted to talk about it. Been years and years since I've been on football forums and had forgotten how argumentative they were with a bunch of wanna be GM's who don't really know much at all about the game themselves but think they do. Not a self righteous statement as I've been there when I was younger... With age comes the wisdom that very few of us are experts in anything besides possibly our chosen field of employment. So that's where my frustration comes by. I'm not claiming Mac is gonna be good... I have no idea. When we made the trade my first thought was it was for Fields but I was hoping it was for Lance. You're right in that I won't be here after the draft, I'm just here because the buildup is so damn exciting. Never been apart of a trade like this in my four decades of following this team. Might not happen again either.

First: I am amazed at the train wreck that this thread has become. The hate amongst many of you is disgusting. This is a sport, you're all fans, you have real lives separated from this. Put 100 people in a room and interview them about the franchise individually, there will be 100 depending different outlooks not a single one will be identical.

Second: What's with the everyone's obsessions with these men's bodies? I'm sorry but many of the best football players of the game have not been immaculate chiseled body types or people with massive muscle mass. In the more recent decades people like Jerome Bettis, big Ben, the Manning bros, Montana, Gore (always pudgy), Burfict, Brady, Marshawn, Rodgers, Winston, Stafford, Rivers, ect. Most of these players were very good in the NFL and many going to the HOF or in it. Athleticism comes in all different body types, some are just freaks. I remember running a mile and a half in about 10:15 at 5'8" 165 lbs around 10% bf, dude about 5'9" with a gut, skinny ass legs, looked Mr incredible like but fat running by me doing it in 9:03. Dude ran distance all the time it turned out and wrestled. Some bodies just look and work different, and id argue in a contact sport, extra weight if you can maint speed is a good thing. Sure there is an ideal weight, size, and muscle tone but it isn't 100%, especially when discussing the QB position. Look at Jimmy, dude is a brick house and is constantly injured. Some people's bodies mature very late as well, like mid 20's before they actually look like Men instead of children. Mac isn't in College anymore either and will be spending. 8-12 or more hours a day at the team facilities. He will be in an NFL workout program, his body WILL get stronger. Look at Nick Mullens, he himself said he became stronger and increased his arm strength while with the Niners since college. The body can and will always change, everyone knows that. I have worked out constantly since I was 14 years old. I was constantly stalky built like a box but never big, about 165-170 10-18% bf, definitely the higher end in College lol. I was 145 in high school 8% bf while playing base ball and racing motorcross. Once I hit 28 the Muscle started sticking, the workouts didn't change much, I'm now 226lbs about 13% BF, no bs steroids or HGH, my body just matured and I kept moderate workouts up. Reason I say all this is we know the body and mind changes. Don't put all your judgements on the simple appearance of someone.

Third: Mac has put good mechanics on tape, ability to take a hit and get up, good anticipation for routes, and accurate throws. If he's the pick I'm rooting hard for him because I love this team. If its Lance or fields I'm rooting hard for them because I love this team. Those dudes will look mean as hell in the uniform I'm sure. What's important though is that Kyle gets HIS guy not ours. He is the one that falls on the sword if it fails or claims his title if right. Have your favorites for sure but let's not burn each other to the ground.

Edit: I'm 35 now about 224 18% bf lol. Still working out but no way in hell I can run a 10:15 mile and half lolololololol. And beer is back in my diet just like in college lol.

100% accurate. I put on a bunch of size at about 22/23 as well. I have a muscular physique but am a very average athlete. It's literally all for show. Mac would destroy me at any sport I'm sure but I look better with my shirt off. Means nothing at the qb position above all others. The tape is what matters. I've watched all the breakdowns and it's obvious that the question with Mac isn't whether or not he'll be good but moreso whether or not he'll be great. He processes at an elite level for a college qb. That quality translates well to the nfl. His arm talent is definitely the thing that might keep him from greatness. Not his legs, not his physique. Like Kurt Warner said, the guy is a starter... The only question is can he make enough off platform throws to carry a team? No one knows that answer yet, it remains to be seen.

100% spot on!

Not gonna lie, it'd be the funniest thing ever if Shanahan takes him and dude just completely balled out like crazy. So many have gone beyond investing themselves in his failure that there's no walking it back.
No one has any idea who the pick is lol I love how these "professionals" are saying that since most people assume it's going to be Mac, that it'll be Mac. The fact is that no one knows except for probably 3-4 people.
Kyle Shanahan, Jed York, John lynch, and maybe Mike Shanahan.

it's not over until the fat lady sings! C'mon down, Justin Fields!

Huh. Interesting choice when to join and why but odd how much you support Mac. I'll be here before and after to see if this was the right choice. I think Mac is the wrong choice for various reasons I have posted and contended you with here. Regardless, if the niners draft him I will pray and root that he is the next Brady but will just as quickly say I knew he was Andy dalton or worse if he fails as I suspect
as much as I want Fields - I'd 100% Mac and hope he becomes great!

It would start a new NFL draft trend among scouts.

"Alright guys, I want you to go out and identify the chubbiest passers in this year's draft class, If the waist size is under 36, we're not interested!"

It could happen, I suppose. Anything could happen. It'd be even funnier if we keep Jimmy this year (unlikely if we take Jones) and he balls out like Ryan in 2016, wins the MVP, and a Super Bowl.

Wonder what happens if the opposite occurs?

"It's the OL fault"
"Our receivers aren't next level"
"Kyle needs to scheme toads skiils"

Can hear it now, can't wait.

Has anyone watched "The Brady 6" ? Saw it on NFL network and it was kind of a past showing you the future thing when they started talking about what was said about Brady before the draft. It's the same almost exactly to what everyone says about Mac Jones. Doesn't make him Brady but since it always seems to be a coin toss on who will make it or not I wonder. There is no best way to evaluate a QB but life has show me you look to the greats and look for a pattern and then try to use that to decide.
What do you guys think ? Is it a coincidence or sign they each have the same evaluations pre-draft?
