Who knows. Whatever the issue is, the 49ers dislike him enough to have him out of their final consideration.

The 49ers' future QB is Mac Jones or Trey Lance. Make peace with it now and wish for the best.

The trade was also made after both Lance and Jones pro days and before Fields.

Lance makes the most sense based on Kyle's envy of Josh Allen and the fact they plan on keeping Jimmy. I don't see why they keep Jimmy if they are drafting Jones. Maybe Fields is out of the picture because he and Lance have a pretty similar skillset and similar ceiling.they chose which one of the two to eliminate. Now they are deciding between two different type of QB's and two different type of Athlete's.

Plus 217 lbs is not small, and with a good weight training program should be able to put on 10 lbs = 227 lbs

it looks like in a non-combine year they just guess some of these measurements. 4.83 would be an interesting time, you dont see people his size post that combination of vert/broad and then 40 going into the NFL. You see it more from high schoolers that lack the endurance and have gotten worn down. If accurate could re-inforce what out eyes are telling us about his conditioning or he might have a good stride, but slow feet.

If they didn't come from Bama, where did those numbers come from?

I would bet dollars to doughnuts Mac never even trained in these, not that it really matters but i suspect he could improve most of these metrics based on his vert and broad.

I think you might be dead on....plus remember the original quote? They were talking about the top 5.

Fields could be mistaken for the top 2 or at worst top 3. There is quote out there talking about the 4th or 5th guy.

And like you said, there are REAL keen to get it out there that Jimmy G is staying put for a year, sounds like they want to get out infront of the noise that they always planned to develop the player.

Damn.... fields is going to have one hell of a chip on his shoulder.

Eh... it makes sense why that would be the case. At the time, Fields was projected to go at the top of the draft with Lawrence and Wilson/Jones were more likely to be where we could draft them. If they weren't considering Fields at all they would not have gone through the trouble of sending guys to two different pro days.

I know team doctors have weighed in and said epilepsy is not an issue in the NFL, but team doctors for a damn long time said concussions and CTE was not a big deal too.....

The needle might have swung so far back on head injuries...teams might be scared off. I did find a medical study that said head injuries absolutely could be an issue for people with pre-existing epilepsy. I wonder if fields medical checked out.

They also signed Sudfeld which is a bigger deal that is not getting talked about nearly enough. And they gave him guaranteed money. That tells me it's possible they don't even want their rookie QB to be a backup in year 1. Does that sound like Jones? A guy who is suppose to be pro-ready and will be 23 when the season begins and is going to be the 3rd string QB in year 1?

The funniest thing is how before this started everyone thought that our FO didn't leak things. Now, it seems like every reporter on the planet has a source inside that knows exactly what we're doing.
