I'm guessing you won't catch Jones hanging out with high school girls in Scottsdale after getting drafted. Leinart always seemed like a dude that was more interested in the quarterback lifestyle far moreso than he was interested in playing quarterback.

Mac took his bumps early on with the DUIs but for the past few years, from.what anyone can see, the guy lives, eats, sleeps football.

This is where Kyle hires a bunch of retired CIA case officers to investigate the three QBs and thier families and friends, and get the location of all the skeletons and dead bodies buried in their particular back yards.

I don't know if he eats football, but he definitely eats.

Honestly I don't know how much I can buy into this guy being so committed to football when he can't be bothered to get himself into the weight room for a few hours a week.

Do some of you need a reminder someone with this body made 210 consecutive starts. The third longest streak in NFL History.

Food for thought. May be nothing.

Lol I don't know why people keep bringing this up. Kyle spent a weekend with Justin Fields back when when Fields was 17 years old. He really "knows"him.
Exactly. Hundreds of kids attend those camps. People are making way too big of deal of it.

This is true as well. Shanahan seems to like what he's familiar with. Makes you wonder.

That's the body of someone who just isn't super toned. Mac Jones looks like someone that has never eaten a vegetable that wasn't a pizza topping.

I'll root for whoever they chose, but if Mayo Jones isn't the answer, I won't have much sympathy for Shanalynch. Also Tua and Lawrence performed multiple seasons at high level. Mac had one season.

Oh and there is this:

**--Smith, the Heisman winner, led the nation with 105 catches and 1,641 yards. Nobody else was close.

**--Running back Najee Harris (1,387 yards, 24 touchdowns) is going to be a star in the NFL. His leap over a Notre Dame defender in the Rose Bowl will be one of the ever-lasting images of the 2020 season.

**--The Joe Moore Award goes to the best offensive line in college football. Alabama won the award over Texas A&M and Notre Dame.

**--When the Associated Press All-America team was announced, Alabama had five—that's right five—players on the first-team offense: Jones, Smith, Harris, OT Alex Leatherwood, and center Landon Dickerson.

Bama overmatched everyone, not his fault. But they did.

exactly! Like I said throw him on some mid level big10 school and no one gives a s**t about him.

Anyone thinking what he brings to the table are some unattainable traits that require 3 1st rd picks is only lying to themselves.

Not unattainable. Just hard to obtain.

In fact that number of first round QB busts the last few years everyone talks about here? That's also a list of first round QBs who failed to improve processing speed and vision.

We've also had a few of our own lately: Kap, Jimmy, CJ, Nick.

The only people lying to themselves are the ones who witness QB after QB bust because they never clicked between the ears and still think it's an easy task to gain those traits.

As for the cost, you're probably right. If you're a slow processor you can still punish a defense with your legs. So yeah, it's probably an overpay for just those two things.

It's so glaring on tape, too. Mac processes things blazing quick and always knows where to go with the ball. I can count on one hand the number of times I saw him fooled by the defense. Dude is just damn smart on the field.

Nope! That was the Bama offensive line. That super fast time in pocket that is right behind Trevor Lawrence? Nope, that's not Jones finding his man quickly, it's the line giving him a bunch of extra time... yet somehow magically this makes his time in the pocket shorter. Don't question.

^ translation: Jones isn't a dual threat therefore he must be bad.

Was it Alabama the team?
Was it Mack the QB?
Was it the system?
Was it Sarkisian?

you also need to ask why Mack couldn't beat out Tua.. ..

Because Tua was a class more experienced and threw 43 TDs to 6 INTs the year before. Jones had thrown 13 passes prior to his sophomore season. You going to bench a guy who threw 43 touchdowns for a guy that threw 13 passes?

Also Hell will freeze over before Tampa Bay sends a 1st for Jimmy this season.
Jones is not bad. All three have a good chance to be good QBs. The capital to get to 3 is NOT a function of the player! It is a function of the MARKET. Supply and demand, not talent, is what fueled the trade. There are 5 worthy QBs, and about 10 teams who want one of them.
Welcome to the NFL draft may I take your order?

Yes, I would like a QB1. The Big Mac

A Lance? No!!!!!! I said a QB1. The Big Mac.

The Big Mac?

You know the one with that special sauce. That sweet white mayo. Those firm golden buns. Extra large pickle.

One QB1 coming up. Will there be anything else?

Now that you mention it....... I will take a 6th championship trophy. Super size it.

That will be 3 first round picks please.

For The Big Mac? Hell Yeah I am loving it!!!!
If they plan on taking Jones they should trade back down. Maybe the Niners can get the Panthers to part with Brian Burns. Our #3 for the Panthers #8 and Burns. Burns would be like a top 10 pick on his own. So it would be like getting one of those 1st RD picks back.
Have to admit that gave me a chuckle,

I'm not arguing for Mac here but this is a ridiculous argument and can be said about a lot of college qb's including Justin Fields who had to transfer because he wasn't "good enough" to beat out Fromm at Georgia. If a team has an older, more experienced NFL caliber talent that's who is starting until proven on the field other wise. Tua was a top 10 pick who won instantly won a title. No shame in waiting for him to bolt to the NFL. You go to Bama because when it is your turn you'll play with the best and compete for a title and Mac did that. In a year and a half turned himself into a 1st rounder.

I guess we got it all wrong though. We should call Buffalo about Fromm. Probably could of gotten him for 1/100th of what the 3rd pick cost us. He's better than Justin Fields though according to Georgia.

those open passing windows he got don't exist anymore. All the talk of being super accurate with great mechanics and high football IQ.... It's the same thing with Jones. Kyle Crabbs talks about it in that podcast I posted in here. Tua is a better talent overall then Jones and had the same luxury of playing in Bama.

How is Haskins doing though? OSU is 69-4 vs the Big 10 since Urban Meyer arrived and have put up 5 straight Heisman QB talents and not one of them have done a d thing in the NFL. If you run a 4.5 playing QB at OSU is like taking candy from a baby. I'm not against Fields but we really need to look into his head because OSU breeds party kids. They win off just being faster and more explosive than their slow a Big 10 peers. There's a reason Haskins is gone 2 years in. He never had the work ethic. Never had to make NFL throws and was just throwing to open receivers. Fields has a lot more talent than him but yeah he's had it just as easy as Mac.

It wasn't just Tua, they had Hurts too. That was the most stacked QB room in the country and its not like Mac Jones was a slouch. He was a four star recruit that initially committed to Kentucky and had multiple scholarship offers from big schools. He could have left Bama and started at any number of other schools but as you mentioned, he went to Bama without a guaranteed spot on the team and stayed there because he wanted the high level coaching and the competition.

For years he got to run the scout team against one of the better defenses in college football and in the offseason, when a lot of talking heads and even Bama fans were clamoring for super recruit Bryce Young to take over the starting job, Jones came in and said "nope, won't be having any of that" and ran away with it.

He's clearly got a lot of perseverance to stick it out that long and wait his turn and when he finally did get the opportunity, all he did was set NCAA records and win a national championship.
