Kiko Alonso is not a Niner (Waived)

Alonso is a huge nothing burger. Roster filler.

Nope, that was 100% on Jimmy bud.

lol, considering Alonso landing on top of him caused the injury, id say Alonso had to do with it.

Which is what Alexander has been this season. It was a good move to off-load the contract and get a draft pick for him.

Kiko broke his collar bone by driving Jimmy into the ground with his helmet.

Kiko is a high intensity player and that can play against him. To me he's most famous for sitting on the opposing teams bench lost after one of his many many concussions while in Miami.

San Francisco Ducks!!

Arik Armstead
Joe Walker
Dion Jordan
Kiko Alonso

This is essentially an extended tryout for Alonso with SF. The odds of him being back in SF next season are very, very low.

Wasn't this guy pretty good at one point?

Very good. He was an int machine. His play is similar to Kwon's at 1/4 the price. We take a dead cap hit of $6 mil but I believe we simultaneously save over $9 mil next year too AB might know this

Good. 9 Mil will get us a very solid player in FA.
I personally know Kiko, I coached him in baseball and basketball many moons ago. He was a stud early in his career. I think he was runnerup for Defensive rookie of the year. Unfortunately injuries have derailed his career, but when healthy, I think he was a starter for every team he played for. He is a local kid from Los Gatos.

Let's hope for a revival!
He was a pro-bowler at one point wasn't he? Cool to see how many Ducks we have on the team now.

But he didn't exactly have great speed coming out of college, not sure how age and injuries have affected that.

I think we just took him off the Saints hands as a formality. He wont be on this team next year.
He was a good LB once. Not so much after a bunch of injuries. Now a roster filler and a contract to write off the books next offseason.

Yeah he had like 6 ints as a rookie and I believe he even missed some games. I still think he's one of the better coverage lbs in the nfl so this is another Verrett type move. Low cost high upside
Kiko can simply be a place-filler this season...I know the Niners are pretty high on Al-Shaair, so he could be "next man up". As deals are made and Lynch continues to acquire draft picks, there's also that option for 2021. Just took a glance at Walter Football's top 10 OLB's and there are a few I think would interest our braintrust. Jacoby Stevens (LSU), Dylan Moses ('Bama), Joe Tryon (WASH) sound promising. Tryon should also get consideration as a PR...he's one of the best in the Pac 12. Some others who could move up in the draft with improvement this season are Micah Parsons (Penn St), Zaven Collins (Tulsa) and Damone Clark (LSU).
