God, no.
Remember the Levin T. Black article, DO NOT leave the QB decision up to Shanahan or we will all be fxxked.
The guy just can't draft or sign QBs to save his life. Hoyer, Cousins, Beathard, you name it.
I would rather give John Lynch an opportunity to call the shots. If Shanahan had listened to him, may be we would have already drafted Mahomes as opposed to a complete bust in Solomon Thomas.

I agree with this. Nothing in shanahans coaching history gives me any confidence that shanahan can either pick the right qb, or even coach up a qb. I have no faith. It will only be proven again if we get Sam darnold.

I just want to make sure we're all on the same page. FWIW I don't think Sam is some stud either.
How about we compare the Jets to the 49ers to two years ago...I don't know if JG even survives on the Jets w/out getting killed/injured. He got killed this year on a 49er team that was still better than the Jets despite all our injuries. I don't know what QB would look good on the Jets.
Even Mahomes looked average in the SB with just a couple of tackles out and has HOF talent across the board... imagine he played for the Jets, he wouldn't be who he is today. Neither would Brady.
We're not allowed to do that

Who gives a s**t about what Black says lol. Dude's opinion matters about as much as anyone else in here. He's not some knowledge football mind.
LOL yeah Cousins in the 4th rd turned into such a bad pick. IF you go back and look, he actually wanted Wilson in that draft and they were gonna take him instead of Kirk, but Wilson got drafted earlier.
Talk to me about sucking when he actually invests a meaningful pick into a QB and they bomb. He's actually had the say on drafting a QB for what 4 yrs? So much lack of context lol

That's the point. He hasn't invested a meaningful pick on a qb. It's been 4 years. He states again he's happy with jimmy going forward . We aren't getting any younger.
Jimmy g
Hoyer
Mullens
Beathard
Rosen
What are you going to do when we don't draft a qb, don't trade for watson, and stick with jimmy? You can't make this excuse anymore. Shanahan needs to make his mark already.

Should be more like Les Snead and give up the farm for clear mediocrity like Jared Goff then give up the farm again to get rid of Jared Goff.

I can't believe this is even a worthy discussion. We are talking about darnold and rosen. What has become of my beloved 49ers

well yeah but that isn't the assessment to be made here, we can't pay Jimmy, Darnold and Rosen. So It would be Darnold, Rosen and say Beathard or Jimmy, Rosen and Beathard. I think the Darnold resign is a clear indicator that he is the back up next year and if the rules stay the same about a vet on the practice squad that would probably be Beathard because he didnt have offseason throwing arm surgery. So you are you really giving up draft capitol to dump Jimmy for Sam Darnold? I say hell no...there is zero proof that guy is any better than what we have.

Exactly!!
If Shanahan knew better, he would have taken Mahomes especially when Lynch went down to his pro day and saw what he saw then called back to suggest to Shanahan may be they need to rethink about taking Solomon Thomas. Bad drafting decisions have consequences. If Shanahan had opted to go for Mahomes, we would have won a Super Bowl by now!!
And what's worse? He had the pick to do it too. And now? We are in no man's land at 12th and we have left it to last minute to finally draft a legit QB..4 QBs will most likely be gone before they get to 12th. And if you want Zach Wilson, you will probably need to sell the farm to get to #2. Even Trey Lance will most likely require trading up. The whole thing is now coming back to bite Shanny in the ass.

Yeah people supporting this are completely off their rocker to put it mildly, they're talking about potential and making excuses for his abysmal play. Who the hell cares about potential when he's demonstrated the worst decision making in the NFL for multiple years now. It's not a rule if you have a bad supporting cast that it's OK to turn the ball over more than anyone in the NFL. Get with it. He is the epitome of a turnover machine and to make matters worse he plays scared. It's just comical at this point

I think adding someone like Darnold puts pressure on Jimmy to keep getting better.
