You're not bringing in Darnold as a backup. He gets paid $5 million this year and $25 million next year. If you trade for him, you have exactly one year to determine if he will be your long term starter.

Trading for Darnold means that Garoppolo is gone and that unless he's injured, Darnold is your Week 1 starter.

Just reports of Kyle being high on Sam, who knows how true it is or if he still feels this way...SF will be connected to just about every QB via trade or draft this off season.

God, no.

Remember the Levin T. Black article, DO NOT leave the QB decision up to Shanahan or we will all be fxxked.

The guy just can't draft or sign QBs to save his life. Hoyer, Cousins, Beathard, you name it.

I would rather give John Lynch an opportunity to call the shots. If Shanahan had listened to him, may be we would have already drafted Mahomes as opposed to a complete bust in Solomon Thomas.

Who gives a s**t about what Black says lol. Dude's opinion matters about as much as anyone else in here. He's not some knowledge football mind.

LOL yeah Cousins in the 4th rd turned into such a bad pick. IF you go back and look, he actually wanted Wilson in that draft and they were gonna take him instead of Kirk, but Wilson got drafted earlier.

Talk to me about sucking when he actually invests a meaningful pick into a QB and they bomb. He's actually had the say on drafting a QB for what 4 yrs? So much lack of context lol

That's the point. He hasn't invested a meaningful pick on a qb. It's been 4 years. He states again he's happy with jimmy going forward . We aren't getting any younger.

Jimmy g
Hoyer
Mullens
Beathard
Rosen

What are you going to do when we don't draft a qb, don't trade for watson, and stick with jimmy? You can't make this excuse anymore. Shanahan needs to make his mark already.

Exactly!!

If Shanahan knew better, he would have taken Mahomes especially when Lynch went down to his pro day and saw what he saw then called back to suggest to Shanahan may be they need to rethink about taking Solomon Thomas. Bad drafting decisions have consequences. If Shanahan had opted to go for Mahomes, we would have won a Super Bowl by now!!

And what's worse? He had the pick to do it too. And now? We are in no man's land at 12th and we have left it to last minute to finally draft a legit QB..4 QBs will most likely be gone before they get to 12th. And if you want Zach Wilson, you will probably need to sell the farm to get to #2. Even Trey Lance will most likely require trading up. The whole thing is now coming back to bite Shanny in the ass.

More overreacting by our fanbase. The plan was to build the trenches first and then get a QB which at the time was going to be Cousins. Yeah they did make that mistake as they passed on Mahomes and Watson. Deal with it. Move on.

But to say Kyle can't draft or invest in a good QB is a bit much. They TRADED for Jimmy G HALFWAY through their 1st season and he came in and got everyone excited. In 2018 they weren't drafting a QB after what Jimmy G showed. Same in 2019. Even if they did draft a QB later on none of the QBs available were good. I guess they could have drafted a QB last year in 2020 but hell Jimmy G was coming off a Super Bowl appearance and they werent in position to draft one anyways.

They literally passed on a QB in ONE draft and now they dont know how to draft/invest/develop a QB?
Back on Darnold, if we can't trade up to get a QB or get Watson somehow i'd be ok trading a pick to get Darnold. I'd let him and Jimmy compete and in 2022 trade away the loser.

Plus if we dont trade up for a QB or get Watson, we'd have to draft a QB at some point to backup Jimmy. I'd rather trade my 2nd round pick for Darnold then draft a guy like Kyle Trask or Kellen Mond.

Highly doubt it gets that far. They trade for Darnold, Jimmy doesn't see OTAs.

getting Darnold probably sends Jimmy off

I really hope he is better than that when healthy. But then again maybe we haven't seen Darnold's best.

Who Knows.. i'm just saying it would be tough to trade for another starting QB and have then sit for a year

If it were up to Rascal the pick that would've been Patrick Mahomes alongside a whole bunch of others wouldn't have been here as he wanted to trade everything for Jared Goff. So consider the QB rating source. Of course he saw Mahomes worthy of the 2nd pick just like every other fan in hindsight.

No way would he have picked Mahomes over generational RB Fournette. Definitely hindsight at it's finest.

If you look at all the draft pundits, Mahomes average rank amongst their big boards was 34. Deshaun was around 30. Solly average was 5 which was actually the 2nd highest with Myles Garrett being the clear cut #1. Solly, Malik Hooker, & Jonathan Allen were all about the same.

Mahomes rank amongst notable draft pundits:
Matt Miller had him 42
Gil Brandt had him 18
Josh Norris had him 50
PFF had him 24
DraftBlitz had him 64
Maddog had him 5 (he had Trubisky 2)

Could be teams, agents, players, or even the Front Office leaking information to only drive up the price for other teams.

In the end, Jimmy G will come back this year and continue to win games while healthy. Just don't know how long that will be this season.

Pundits don't get paid 5 million dollars a year to make these decisions. Shanahan and lynch do. That's what they get paid to do. If we are going to listen to pundits, you may as well hire me.

Ryan leaf was slated at either #1 or #2 by most. Doesn'tean that the chargers front office didn't f**k up.

Lynch/shanny better make a move. I'd be very upset if JIMMY GLASS was under center this up coming season....
