Thoughts??

This sticks out...

"Again, it's never as simple as "is player X better than player Z." In this scenario, Darnold's cap number is under $10 million for 2021. That's as of now. After the trade, Darnold's cap number is around $5 million for 2021. Garoppolo's cap number is $26 million. Is there a $21 million difference between the two players? I don't believe so, and I doubt the Niners do, either."

Really, really hard to say. It is a big risk to take with a franchise set to win now. It is one of those moves that if it pans out you are a genius, if it bombs you are out of a job.
Darnold is a reclamation project with 1 year left on his deal. To me it's no different than what we have in Rosen. Having 2 projects with a contending team is foolish. Darnold now isn't an upgrade over Jimmy now.

That's disgusting.

That is f**king disgusting. Only available upgrades over Jimmy is Watson and (was) Stafford. Rodgers is never happening. JG=Ryan=Cousins=Wentz. JG>>>Darnold.
I welcome him with open arms..lets do this

Truth... so many variables as well.

If his cap is that low why wouldn't we trade for him and let him compete with Jimmy G? If he losses we have a decent backup. Good backup QBs cost over a million anyways.

I hear you and I don't have a problem with it... competition in camp is a good thing.

Some fans don't think it makes any sense because of the cash or another reason

Its low, for a season. If you trade for him you have to pay him $5 million this year and $25 million next year. You have exactly one season to decide if he's your guy and if he can be your franchise quarterback. He wouldn't be coming here to be a backup.
Sam Darnold's passer rating throwing from a clean pocket 80.....so much that

It really shows how we have the least knowledgable fan base in the entire nfl. Our fans want darnold and rosen, and call jimmy garbage.

This is the same fan base that chanted for carr.

I didn't click that, but I'm assuming it's the play where Darnold scrambles away and throws a touchdown while on the move against us.

Oui.

Lol. Why don't you show all the other plays in that game. That was in garbage time. Jets got blown out darnold looked like absolute s**t.

I don't think there are too many people who seriously think Darnold is an upgrade over Jimmy. If the argument to trade for him has any merits, it's an argument about potential. But potential means nothing. Nate Davis had more potential than any QB in history. You only trade for "potential" if it's cheap with respect to the distant future and it doesn't risk hurting you in the immediate future either.
