His rookie year he beat a decent oh wait excuse me, swept a decent 49ers defense. There's a ton of QB's in their rookie year who looked like they didn't belong, Alex Smith and Jared Goff come to mind. Not everyone comes outta the gates firing, especially when that QB gets drafted to an already bad team.

I can almost guarantee you that Rosen will look much much better than Mullens or Beathard ever did with the 9ers. Sure that's such a low bar to hold Rosen to, but it much more than just a camp arm.

But it's funny you say this about Rosen I remember you thinking so highly of him. https://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/nfl/191892-how-good-josh-rosen/search=rosen

Lol decent 49ers defense, nah dude.

Rosen's completed 40% of his passes vs SF week 3 and 57% week 6 vs SF. I don't even know if he's better than CJ at this pt.

Wanna do a rundown of all the successful NFL QB's that were high draft picks and were on their fourth team in less than 4 years?

Rosen wasn't put into good circumstances but he's been bad, real bad. He shouldn't be depended on for anything other than being a camp arm.

If you can't make it to at least a backup learning from Tom Brady, you probably aren't going to make it anywhere. The guy was on their practice squad.

I'd rather they draft Jones then trade for Darnold.

It is a good reason to move on though. Start a rebuild with a rookie deal at QB if he doesnt pan out get the real guy when you are closer to ready. in the meantime, we need a back up with potential and a 3rd round pick sounds about right.

Can't see him as a backup if traded...but who knows.

Again, dude he was a rookie on the road, he passed for 170 yards and 1 TD, did he lose the game?? The second game he passed for 23/40 (57%) 252 yards 2 TD's and 1 INT. His numbers weren't that far off from Darnold and Josh Allen's (52%) rookie year.

Right, and then he chose to sign with the 9ers to the active roster. You act like he started the season with the Bucs and then released to the practice squad and cut.

Those are not upgrades

if you're going to ruin the franchise, might as well do a peter king trade for watson

I like the bleacher report suggested trade of Jimmy G plus a 5th for him. That would only be if they want Jimmy there to help transition the offense and play until a rookie was ready to start. They may not want him so just flip them the two 3rds we got for Saleh.

Under no circumstances would I ever replace Jimmy with Darnold. If we trade for Darnold, we bring him in to backup and learn for at least a year to get his head and confidence right. If Jimmy stays healthy, we are going to the playoffs. It would be idiotic to trade him away unless we are upgrading, which Darnold is not.

I act like someone who has seen him fail at every level since entering the league and doesnt believe it will magically turn around now because we wished really hard.

This....if your bring Darnold here it is as a project and a backup and you hope he can maybe push Jimmy if you are lucky. He is not an upgrade, you dont ditch Jimmy and you certainly don't pay f**king extra on top of that. Getting Darnold is something you do on day 3 of the draft if you don't find a kid you like who could serve the same purpose for less bank.
