Thats awfully generous.
Jets fan proposed #23 & Darnold for #12
I'm thinking fair value is
Jets get #12 & #103 (Saleh comp pick)
49ers get #23, #66 & Darnold.

Yeah, he's had time to show his pro's and his con's. I think he's a solid backup at this point in his career. It will take a team willing to start him again for him to sniff being a starter again.

Pro: he's cheaper
Con: he's Sam Darnold

Trade a 5th for Darnold and a 6th.

We can offer that, but they would just hang up immediately.

Oh no.

Youre the one who brought up that madden like trade lol

Rental players you do when you know you can contend for a championship. Like we did with Sanders. That made sense. But this won't be a year of contending. On top of that, the plan wasn't to lose Sanders, we still wanted him back and tried.

Here the plan is to basically turn Darnold into a good player. If we trade for him, and he isn't good, those picks are gone and you get no value back out of him. If you trade for him, and he turns out good, then you wasted a top pick on the QB you just drafted. Because we get rid of Jimmy, don't draft a QB, and expect Darnold to be that guy? That won't happen.

Is he worth a second? Idk, probably not. But you are still looking at multiple picks that we could really use this year.

We wanted him back so bad that we didn't even offer him a deal?

I view Jimmy at this point as a "rental" player just happens to be stupid expensive. Same with Darnold.

Yes if Darnold magically turns into a super star you give him a small extension or trade him for some great picks and yes either way you still have a elite prospect QB, that's cheap waiting in the wings. s**t you can probably trade him for a pretty penny as well, if you're sold on Sam.

If Darnold blows you spent a couple mid rd picks and saved $20M to resign guys that are still on your team vs a couple picks that have a good chance of turning into nothing special.

I'm not trading a 2nd for Sam, I also don't think any team is either. Hey we will see.

I thought we did try to offer Sanders a deal but we knew he was out of our price range, could be wrong though.

I get what you are saying with Darnold, but im just going by reports and the current QB market. I understand why some teams would give up a 2nd or multiple 3rds/4ths.

But like u said, we will see...

He sucks and hasn't shown to be worth anything more than that. Just like Gabbert when we got him for a 6th.

2nd might be too much, but you're kidding yourself if you think a team will get him for a 6th.
