There's about 4 other QBs in this draft alone that are better than Darnold though... as rookies. I just don't see him as an upgrade and if so, not much of one. If he's going to cost anything to get it's just not worth it. He'd have to come over on an almost even swap for Garoppolo.

On a side note any interview I've ever seen with Sam Darnold he doesn't seem like a very confident person. I want a QB with some swagger and this guy doesn't have it.

Agree 100%. Its a slow news cycle and the media needs a narrative to push. For some reason the media desperately wants Sam Darnold to stay relevant and they see Kyle as the ticket.
Pros: Meh

Cons: He's Sam Darnold

I think a logical trade for DEN is to move up to #4 and trade Lock in order to secure Trey Lance - QB. Gives ATL a developmental QB with 2 more contract years on a rookie wage, and gives them more ammo to rebuild (Pitts, Slater, Parsons, CB all viable options at DEN's spot).

For DEN, Paton puts points on the board as their new GM with an athletic QB with a hell of an arm. Should not be THAT expensive for a trade up.

That's definitely a possibility. Jets, Dolphins, Panthers and Broncos all have young QB's that they could use as bargaining chips in a trade. Falcons are completely screwed on Ryan's current contract with huge dead money implications for the next two years. The QB carousel could spin again, especially if Watson's legal troubles get handled.
gimmie darnold damnit
I wonder if the Jets would trade us Darnold and #23 for #12. I'd do this if we don't land one of the top 5 QBs.

would that be enough? In that scenario they might could grab one of the top 3 WRs that fell to 12 or one of the top linemen.

Good. That means they're ready to trade out of that #2 spot. lol

Would it? Is there a clear qb talent in this draft, that is superior to Donald, outside of Lawrence?

They would be wise to trade down in this qb class if they think Darnold is their man.
I'm late to this but still.

There are no pros to bringing in Darnold. Not even if we had 0 guys on the roster. He just isn't an NFL quality QB. Never was. Never will be.

I said this in advance of the draft. He's the same Darnold who first stepped foot on the SC campus. Hasn't developed a bit.

It's the same concern I have for Lawrence. Obviously not as big of a concern because the guy who came into Clemson is a pretty good QB. But he's still the same guy he was as a freshman. He never really grew to another level. That's troubling.

For me the guy is Fields. This man has all the talent and is growing every year. He is most likely to maximize his potential (Lance also but less predictable). Wilson made a good leap forward but still struggled against the one good team he faced. Time will tell but I'm cautious about him.

Going to disagree with you about Lawrence. He had no need to grow to another level, although the major concern for him would be playing for Jax. But he is surely an NFL-calibre qb and well worth #1. If he gets a haircut.

When you would of been the #1 pick as a freshman and every year after... noticeable growth outside the QB room is going to be minimal to us outsiders. We dont really have access to see how much he progressed in the classroom. But cant knock Lawrence for coming out the gate as the best QB in college.
