It's funny how having decent players around you and a better organization can make you look so much better. I seem to recall a lot of people calling him garbage when he was with the Jets. If he was playing in SF he would look even better.

Most of the QBs that come into the NFL probably have the tools to be a successful QB if they are surrounded by good players or get good coaching. Then you have the other side with guys like Stafford who have all the tools to be great and get stuck on a dung heap like Detroit.

Good coaching + talented roster + decent Qb, will translate to success, 9 times out of 10. We're seeing that right now be with QB's like, Stafford and Darnold. All they needed was to be put In a better situation where they would have a chance of succeeding and now they are finally winning games with their new teams.. Coincidence? 🤔 I think not.
Good coaching is a must!
talented roster is not that much of a must. Think more of a roster that fits some system. See Fangio/49ers.
The Panthers won against the Jets, Saints and Texans. That is not a proof that Darnold is somehow decent, sorry. But even if, 9 out of 10? I don't think so. You need a very good qb, good coach, and a solid roster, then you will be successful 9 times out of 10. This league is highly qb-driven.

Nothing special about him, imho. USC trash...

The word trash is easily the most overused on this forum. Darnold was fine against Dallas. It wasn't his fault that the defense let the Cowboys run for 250 yards.

With Gilmore they now may have the best defense in the league...Sam Darnold might now go far in these playoffs if he can stop the turnovers.

It amazes me how hypocritical you are jcs. Sam needs to stop the turnovers....but not a peep about your guy Jimmy, who has the exact same number of turnovers.

LMAO, 1st he's not even healthy right now. 2ndly, there's a reason NE got rid of him. They didn't want to pay him because they see him as a declining player. I realize the NFC is wide open, but CAR's OL is atrocious and I think that might be what keeps them out of the playoffs, not their secondary.

Reports on most major sports networks say they moved him now to free up the money to bring in Collins because they were desperate for a pass rusher having only one who can be productive on the roster and given that BB can develop a DB on the fly went for it. It's also now being reported that contract negotiations have fallen through between his agent and the patriots so they knew they were going to lose him for nothing at the end of the season of this rebuilding year.

Having Gillmore on the PUP they can also free up the rest of his contract without incurring a hit later in the year. It was also reported that he was placed on the pup in the offseason with the belief that it would be easier to get him to swallow his 2021 contract if he only had to play x number of games vs a complete season as he was making salary demands in the offseason threatening to sit out the year. Considering it looks like BB is throwing this year away to develop a QB I'm not surprised he made the move.

We f'd up and instead of having a top CB on the cheap for a 2023 late round pick our team is instead rolling with the likes of soon to be 34 year old J.Norman, D.Johnson, an up and down rookie and K.Kirkpatrick opposite of UDFA Moseley.

This. Even if the 2019 DPOY is declining he went from what, the best cb in the nfl to top 20. I'll take that anyday. I swear Niner fans don't want to win or even compete for a Sb. We need a very good cb. Sorry but that's the reality. The front office will of course react a year too late like with the DE and pass rush need. Now it's the cb need that's going to kill us. With the wrs in our division, our conference and the nfl we are screwed unless we have the Chiefs offense and Trey turns out like Mahomes bc that's the only way we will win a SB

Back to Darnold, he's not a good qb in any measure whatsoever. Like I said before, I hope his great wrs and rb make him look good bc I don't want the panthers to get Watson, Wilson or Rodgers bc then they would be a contender

I was at the game live. My dad and family are from Charlotte so I go to a game every season with him. Carolina's offensive line is awful. Darnold was under constant duress. Robby Anderson can't catch. Then finally I remember when Darnold said he was seeing ghosts a couple of years ago. Not much has changed. Dude is terrible under pressure. That first interception he threw was right into double coverage and he had time on that throw. I don't even know what he was seeing. DJ Moore wasn't even briefly open.

On a sidenote. I didn't even have any skin in that game and the Philly fans were annoying me.

3 ints against a secondary that is not good and Darnold has DJ Moore and Robbie Anderson??? Worst qb under pressure with Goff.

Like I said before, I hope he does just good enough so Carolina doesn't replace him with Rodgers Wilson or Watson

So Lynch shouldn't have traded for Darnold instead now? Just trying to keep score.
Just like in horror movies, you can move the but ghost will still follow you.
