This. He's not just #1 at his position. He's the greatest to ever play the game at any position. And it's not even close.

This
"I'm the best!"

What do you have to show for it? Records, Superbowl Ring? Nope.
if you were the best, Kap would have looked for you instead of Crabs.
First Moss played in his prime with Chris Carter one of the best ever. Moss is possibly the most naturally talented receiver, but he didn't seem dedicated to be the best.

Moss reminds me of Mike Tyson. The scariest dudes ever until they got knocked out/figured out.

Moss and Owens weren't valuable enough to not get shipped out of town multiple times. Moss and Owens stuck around to pad their stats. Moss was a 49er. Owens was a Bill and a Bengal.

Lastly, so much easier to be a receiver over the last few decades. So much more passing.

I could argue that Moss was way past his prime at that point. If this was Moss in 2007 or younger, then you'd have a point.

But I do agree with the bolded because Jerry was dominate for a looooooong time. He was great from 87-2002. That's 16 years of dominance.

To be fair, the niners wanted him here but Owens didn't want to be a 49er anymore. So Owens forced his way out of town. What happened after Philly, I don't even know.

You are right about Moss. Moss got tossed around so many times.

I feel like anyone saying Moss and T.O. were more physically gifted than Jerry must not be remembering the first third of JR's career. You could have two or more guys on Jerry Rice but if you hit him underneath on a crossing route and he didn't have to break full stride it usually meant six points. He would blow by the entire defensive backfield whether they had position on him or not. It was one of those special things that only occasionally happens in sports where everyone knew exactly what was coming but were usually powerless to do anything to stop it. Moss and T.O. were often amazing but they never achieved that level of dominance.

And lmao at Moss claiming stats are "political" Even if we go by his abstract metric of greatest impact on the game (which he has to use because using anything that's measurable is no contest) you still have to give it to Rice. By the mid 90's half the NFL was running the WCO and trying to emulate what we'd been doing with Jerry that's due in no small part to Rice himself.

Also did it ever occur to T.O. that the HOF qb's throwing to Jerry Rice were HOF qb's in large part because they were throwing to Jerry Rice? Rice had good numbers and a high level of play with Rich Gannon too... WHEN HE WAS 40! Seriously guys, go lay by your dish, you aren't even close.

Moss is an idiot, has always been an idiot, and apparently will forever be. Stats are "politiacal" because you can't back your claim. Jerry took over games like few players (including Moss) ever could. Dude was a machine. Also, need to rename this thread. It isn't weed Moss is smoking.

Why you gotta bring that up? He should've looked for him.
