I agree it will be a very hard sale. The same was said when Vick went to the Eagles. After a few games the dog fighting talk simmered and people were only discussing his MVP deserving performance. They still had protests but even those got smaller as the Eagles season continued. Now the Watson scenario will involve paying valuable assets to receive the distraction so it's not an apples to apples comparison but I just think with the 24 hour news cycle it will be forgotten sooner rather than later.
Difference is Vick "paid" his dues. He went to prison and then got his 2nd chance, and ya even then there was still a lot of backlash like you said.
Yes, but most American also defend dogs much more aggressively than they do women, so Vick was fighting an uphill battle in the court of public opinion.
Maybe 15 years ago. With #metoo, this will not end well for Miami of they trade for him right now. I guess we shall see...But imo, this trade is not happening.
