I don't see it remotely they already went out and added Brissett who has lots of NFL starts as QB and Joshua Dobbs.. almost like they already have a QB1 and QB2 in the event Watson is suspended.. Baker is still technically a Brown.. so they have Watson, Brissett, Dobbs and Mayfield all currently under contract..

Baker's never playing for Cleveland again. And, no, Brissett and Dobbs were hired to be backups. The Browns are in a position to contend. They aren't handing the keys over to those two guys.

Yup Baker is not playing for CLE again I agree. As to Brissett his signing was announced a day after the Watson trade and ESPN reported at the time that Brissett could begin the year as starter in the event of Watson's suspension. I agree.

Brissett could begin next season as Cleveland's starter, depending on if the NFL disciplines Watson, who is accused by 22 women of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct during massage sessions.

So basically ESPN speculates Brissett could start if Watson is suspended and this will prove what? I'm sure Brisset COULD start. I mean he's a QB and the Browns signed him. I don't see a scenario where he's given the keys if Watson is suspended for the whole year.

It's not just ESPN.. here's Yahoo sports..

It is expected that Brissett would start for the team during any Watson suspension. Mayfield is expected to be on another team by that point in time.

Brissett is a borderline / fringe starter.. he's started 37 career games and is in his prime.. it's kind of a high end #2 and my thoughts are they got him specifically as a fall back or Plan B if Watson is suspended.. I could be wrong..

If they wanted some other QB for this role like JG or Newton.. they would have already made that move.. and not the Brissett move.. imo

Expected he would start. Can they be any more passive in that sentence?

Brissett isn't a guy who a team hires to start for them for a season.

They hired Watson.. which means they are doing this wrong to begin with imo.. they are likely of the opinion there will be no suspension.. hard to imagine they paid what they did and expected a suspension.. nevertheless.. they seem aware there is some possibility of suspension and I think Brissett is their backup plan in that event.. I mean what do you think they would do if there is a Watson suspension.. other than go with Brissett?

2 more lawsuits, can the NFL make ruling now? More things are happening so they can't have the full picture.

While it appears he did nothing criminally wrong, he may have civil liability, and these now 26 civil suits are an embarrassing mess for the Browns organization and a complete distraction. Ian Rap went on McAfee and said NFL would likely announce before training camp in July, so Browns know where they stand at the QB position.

Once again, what Ridley did potentially compromises the integrity of the sport. What Watson is being accused of is a terrible look for the sport. There is a huge difference. Obviously in terms of the law, what Watson is accused of is obviously substantially worse in terms of the law. But the NFL governing body isnt the law.
