Deshaun Watson

All anyone on the outside can do is take the information presented and develop an informed opinion. Here, we've got 24 (and counting?) accusers all stating varying degrees of harassment happened. Combine that with Watson admitting to having 60+ therapists he hired, text messages he sent to at least one AFTER apologizing for his behavior and just other little details. I think a lay person would come to the conclusion that AT MINIMUM he was an aggressive sexual harasser. At worst a rapist. We will see what happens long term but he should be suspended indefinitely until all of the civil trials are heard and a judgement made. This means a 2+ year suspension and possibly more.

Good post French.

hood he gets at least the full year and then they can give us a 4th for Jimmy
He will only get a year at most. He's a star and plays the most important position in all of sports. Nothing else matters

20 of the law suits settled...

Gone, just like that? Robert Kraft & Big Ben style...

I mean it was a civil suit case...he wasn't indicted. He knew he would more than likely be fighting every single case for years and still have to pay them end of the day. Would have cost him more going that route with lawyers and such.

So he did want he said he wasn't gonna to and settled (I wouldn't call that clearing his name). As far as it being gone, it's was always gonna be about public opinion. Big Ben was suspended for 6 games for two suits, Watson has 24 in total

He's really about to get away with this huh??...

Man I hope he never makes the HOF even if he has the resume for it. Not shocked the nfl is trying to keep this under the rug.

I love the sport but man the suits behind this is despicable..

Once the grand jury declined to indict Watson on sexual misconduct allegations, it became just a civil suit...which is all about payment for damages. He wasn't getting any jail time (unless new cases came about) at this point.

So if we wanted to say he got away with it, it was back in early March when he wasn't indicted...I have no idea how easy or not easy it is to indict over sexual misconduct. It's a lot of he said she said stuff.

I wouldn't say the NFL is trying to keep this under the rug at all...it's been a major news story for over a year. It was up to the grand jury (not the NFL) to indict him of criminal charges. He will/should be suspended for a considerable amount of time if we're going off the Big Ben case. That's about all the NFL can do.
feel like a I'm not gonna do this type of behavior anymore apology will get him off the hook.

There's still four cases pending that refused a settlement so we'll see how those end up going.
I think a year is the right level of sanction. Would be a bad look IMO to do longer, Deshaun is being tried by the court of public opinion.

Why even suspend him a year then? If he did nothing wrong, and it's only the pesky baseless "public opinion" driving this, then surely he deserves no punishment!

But if you punish him a year, you are acknowledging there IS merit to these allegations, and if there is merit in being a serial sexual abuser/predator, I don't think a year is sufficient.

100% agree. Especially after Calvin Ridley got a year for gambling. Is the NFL trying to say that gambling is as bad as being sexually aggressive after they themselves allowed a stadium to be built in Vegas and now openly allow gambling for everyone but the players.

i would hardly call what Ridley did as gambling too bet 1500 on draftkings i think while he wasnt even playing in the NFL. I agree it was wrong but i think it was more of he wasnt aware of the rules but it wasnt like he was point shaving
Now the Texans franchise is getting sued lol. This is a smoking tire fire.

Not true … you get punished for tarnishing the shield. I don't think the NFL gives a s**t about what he did, just how it affected the leagues rep.

Right.

Where are all those people that were arguing that Buzbee was doing this to help out the Texans because he lived down the street from the Texans old owner?
