Depends on if Fangio is willing to make things work with the current DL and how they are being used with Kocurek. No one wants to see him come in and start dropping Bosa into coverage.
I dunno- another internal promotion to replace Demeco seems awfully risky. Fangio is a known quantity with a lot of success as a coordinator. He's been around the team already. Don't see how we can't interpret this as mutual interest in taking over.

Agreed. At his age I just don't see him willing to make that change. Saleh hired Jeff Ulbrich to run his system with the Jets. Maybe we find another guy who has been in a system similar to ours and hire him. J

Im a huge Fangio fan and what were doing is like a hybrid of Saleh and Fangio.

To me, the first question you ask a candidate for the job is, "how are you going to use Bosa?". If it involves anything like, "Micah Parsons" or "he has the talent to play OLB" I'm thanking them for their time and wishing them the best of luck.

If the answer is anything but letting him wreck offenses from his W9 D-end spot, we're done.

It'd be interesting if Fangio transitioned back to a 4-3 under base scheme as you'd essentially be playing a coverage locking 3-4.

Isn't he also in house as a consultant? If so, I'm sure Demeco has been talking to him quite a bit and Fangio has a closer look of this defense and its philosophy. If he's to keep this style and just sprinkle some of his other stuff, I'll be ok with him.

No. He is the consultant for the Eagles right now.

As far as I know he hasn't been an in person consultant. He was around the facility a lot this TC and off-season. I'm assuming he was hoping with a lot of our palms stuff and coverage rules.

Good to know. Thanks!
So if we allow less than 70 yards rushing to the commies, we will break the 2000 Ravens streak for allowing less than 70 in 8 consecutive games. Additionally, we lead the league in YPG allowed and PPG allowed, as did they. They only stay that team has over this is the record for turnovers they forced. Poetically, they forced 49 turnovers. Where do we rank against other all time defenses? Let's look:

85 Bears - 12.4 PPG, 379 YPG
2000 Ravens - 10.3 PPG 247.9 YPG
2002 Bucs - 14.8 PPG 252. YPG
2022 49ers - 15.0 PPG 286.1 YPG

dont curr as long as we shut down most teams in the playoffs. Let's hope that will solidify the defense!

Considering all the s**t to help offenses now, its a minor miracle what the 49ers defense has been able to do.

I think we'd be even better with Mosely, AA for a full season, Ebukam, etc.

Depending on who is the play caller next year, we could possibly take it to a higher level in 2023. Hope we go all the way so these guys can finally get their flowers.

Our D line is obviously the heart and soul of our defense, and Kocurek has been instrumental in development. Getting Kinlaw back, if healthy, will only bolster this squad.

Purdy might be the most explosive QB on that list of teams. Brad Johnson more en fuego?
