So if we allow less than 70 yards rushing to the commies, we will break the 2000 Ravens streak for allowing less than 70 in 8 consecutive games. Additionally, we lead the league in YPG allowed and PPG allowed, as did they. They only stay that team has over this is the record for turnovers they forced. Poetically, they forced 49 turnovers. Where do we rank against other all time defenses? Let's look:

85 Bears - 12.4 PPG, 379 YPG
2000 Ravens - 10.3 PPG 247.9 YPG
2002 Bucs - 14.8 PPG 252. YPG
2022 49ers - 15.0 PPG 286.1 YPG

Purdy might be the most explosive QB on that list of teams. Brad Johnson more en fuego?

Or best offense. Either way, let's keep the fingers crossed.

Considering all the s**t to help offenses now, its a minor miracle what the 49ers defense has been able to do.

I think we'd be even better with Mosely, AA for a full season, Ebukam, etc.

Depending on who is the play caller next year, we could possibly take it to a higher level in 2023. Hope we go all the way so these guys can finally get their flowers.

How many of our defensive players can we hold on to next season? Who are hitting free agency, etc?

Let's hope our defense can achieve what the others mentioned on the list above achieved and win a super bowl.

Though Fangio would be a great hire, I'm curious to see if we have anyone internally up to the task or in giving an opportunity to someone else. DeMeco was always seen as a rising star, but who was Saleh before he came here? Kyle has had pretty good eyes for picking up and coming coaches.

Fangio has been in and outta here all up in our building during this administration and if Kyle wanted him, he would be able to outbid Sean Payton I am sure of it. With the talent we keep collecting defensively I am sure we will have excellent DCs clamoring for this job

We can probably keep Eman
All shaair it's almost certainly gone

Not sure about Jimmy Ward, Ebukam, Gibson. I think Gibson will not be expensive, but not sure if he is the long term plan at FS

And then we have a bunch of DL who we can replace easily if they leave: Givens, Omenihu, Ridgeway, Hyder

I wonder how much John Lynch is involved in the Defensive Coaching hires.

I could see Dan Quinn taking the job if Jerry fires McCarthy.

Gotta wonder who's gonna fork over stupid money for Payton (and paying off their current HC) plus they made to trade for Payton too. He's still under contract in NO.

I don't think he is involved at all. I know Tomsula needed Baalke's help to assemble his coaching staff. Kyle is no Tomsula.

I wonder too!
If Ryans leaves and I hope he stays at least one more season, I would prefer an older coach that has experience and isn't waiting for a head coaching job. That way we could get some continuity.

That's one of the problems that pops up when you get a good team. All the other teams want to pick off your coaches even if they aren't really good HC candidates. It reminds me of colleges like Oregon that hire assistant coaches out of the SEC who recruit well and then are disappointed in 2 years when they leave for an SEC HC opening.

Usually works out.
Mike Nolan has the same thoughts when he hired Norv Turner.
