Honestly I partly blame Jimmy because the defense does not know how to react after the play is extended. Probably from lack of practice.

They basically lose track of what to do once the plays start to breakdown.

Without good pass rush our secondary can be exploited. Lenoir and hufanga can be picked on without decent pass rush.

Ryan's has had a lot of blown coverages to start games. It was like this against Miami as well. Tua just missed a lot of blown coverages.

He seems to figure it out in the second half and tighten up the defense.

They practiced against only Lance all off season.

and purdy

The previous post blamed Jimmy. Jimmy wasn't even the guy the defense was going against all offseason through preseason.
We need a pass rusher to step up other than Bosa. I expected a little more out of Jackson. And need Armstead to do a little more in the pass game too.

IIt's turning into an issue since Hydra and Ebukam have stopped producing sacks. Hyider did generate that deflection yesterday so Props to him

Had a nice INT yesterday. Everything's not always about sacking the QB.

Drake Jackson has the most batted balls by an edge rusher this season. When you find out his snap counts compared to the other leaders, it's pretty impressive what the 49ers' second-round pick is doing in limited action.

Raiders OL were allowed to hold every snap. I suspect many bet on the Raiders to cover the spread…
It seems like Demeco Ryans overlooked the Raider offensive fire-power when all their guys are healthy. Adams certainly can't be overlooked but the Raiders also have Darren Waller. When healthy, he is hard to cover and tackle. Renfrow is also a tough out. Hollins is no slouch either. And, as Nick Bosa said, Josh Jacobs is the best RB in the league.

Derek Carr was part of the problem but not all of it. A lot of the above pieces were missing much of the past games. Now with all of those parts back in place, it was a relatively easy thing for Stidham to put up some numbers.

This was a good game to put things back in perspective. The Raiders are a much better team than their record. Their play yesterday will be a good barometer for DR to evaluate the level they need to maintain heading into the playoffs.

Ya at one point they were picked to challenge the Chiefs for the west. That obviously looks like a joke now. I was actually surprised to see them have 6 wins. With the way they are talked about I thought they had 2 wins. But their talent got it together yesterday and Stidham capitalized. I really wonder if the Niners defense partied the night before. So uncharacteristic of them

So much for this being one of the top defenses in 49ers history. Wouldn't be surprised to see DeMeco back next year.

It looks like well struggle against elite receivers if we cant hurry the throw. Job 1 in our scheme is pressure. If four cant do it try 5, occasionally 6. I don't see any cavalry over the horizon though. We'll have to roll with who's been playing.
I think the defense's problem against the Raiders was la ack of discipline due to their overlooking their opponent as Bosa suggested. He said the defense allowed running lanes for both the backs and Stidham. It reminded me of the Chicago game where the defenders although outmatching the Bears were undisciplined, missed assignments, and seemed intent on punishing the opponent rather than defeating it.
