I still think Raheem Morris is a DC candidate if Ryans leaves and LA's coaching staff gets blown up.

Rams would probably just give Morris the job in hopes McVay comes back eventually.

Vic fangio did a consultation with the 9ers during this year's training camp. He will probably be the choice.

Fangio being DC would create a real conflict in philosophy with Kocurek. If they fistfight I'm taking Kocurek.

I feel like the 49ers would just promote someone off the defensive staff.

Cory Undlin is probably the top choice.

That might not be a bad option. Morris has a lot of experience in different systems to draw from, and the defense he ran in ATL was very different from the one he ran in LA. I think he could come in and work with Kocurek to preserve what we've got going in here because around here it's wide 9 for life, brother.

Nothing like seeing a T+G and RB chip turn into Bosa running with the RB short while Hufanga and Greenlaw come the other way. 5 rushers vs 3 blockers is always a win.

Yeah, but if a team really likes demeco and maybe another candidate equally - but know they'll lose one of them to another team if they wait too long. So sometimes teams like a candidate but don't want to risk not getting him down the road and not getting either guy.
if someone really wants him, and demeco will commit to them before actually being able to sign (like what Kyle did) then that'll happen.
I wonder if it would be better if no teams can start interviewing or hiring until after the Superbowl. So everyone has to wait until then to keep all candidates on a level playing field sort of like Free Agency.
Probably would never happen though.
Well to be fair, it's not like it's a big surprise to the coaching staff that these guys are looking at jobs or may take one - and seeing how only two teams are in the superbowl and four in the conference championships etc - it would make it so the other teams can't make any off season moves.
id also imagine you'd want to know as soon as possible if some one is leaving and get a replacement, then get them up to speed.

He's young enough that he'll be on the list again even if the Niners drop off a little next season. Any GM or owner that hires a HC based on what his team did while he was a coordinator is using the wrong criteria. HC is a different animal that requires more skills.
If I remember correctly, Ryan's turned down interviews last season to come run it back with us. I think it was wise and he will be a much better head coach because if this years experience running a top unit.
