I feel like the 49ers would just promote someone off the defensive staff.
Admittedly have not paid much attention since Ryan's was the heir apparent. Who's next in line internally?
How about Brian Flores? Thought he was decent as a HC but something happened between him and their ownership seemed like a hard nosed D coach.
Flores is probably getting hired as DC in Cleveland

If the team makes an internal hire, I'd like to see Johnny Holland promoted. If it's an outside hire, Jim Schwartz should garner consideration.

Cardinals, Texans,, Denver....probably one or two others. Question is,tho, as Brian Billick raised on ESPN recently, was, would he really want to take teams like that? Cowboys,, if they lose to TB, are another one. But Demeco is top drawer, high class, smart, and if he didn't take a poor slot this yr, would still be as valuable, if not more so, next yr. Whatever, he will need a hot shot OC, and that would go triply up in DEN. So , yes, he'll probably be gone once SB is over, but is it a good idea? I said same about Saleh, who i also really liked, and his time at Jets has been tough. Does Demeco know how to draft for what a team needs? Does he know how to pick a QB? Does he really have the nuts and bolts of drafting, which can be a career ender if not done well?
i would like to see him do well, and staying around our GM, HC/OC, could be a real shot in the arm for him if he stays around and learns all JL and KS know. He probably will take the HC, but he could do a lot worse than stay around here another yr and learn all the things needed to become a successful HC.

Right!
The only benefit to leaving this year is he might be able to get Mike Lafleur to run his offense. But Ryans is less experienced than Saleh was and arguably Ryans is running the defense that Saleh designed, built, and drafted.
Wouldn't surprise me if he turned into a Brandon Staley type HC that couldn't replicate his defensive success without his former team's all-world talent (Bosa, Warner, etc for us and Ramsey and Donald for Staley)

Doesn't look like DR trust his corners and it's for good reason today. Probably gonna continue to see off coverage on 3rd downs. Need the offense to keep scoring

I get it, but in spite of his lack of experience, DeMeco seems too smart for that. Plus he's been around smart coaches. I can't see him failing given with a good FO

Gets torched every first half.
Won't be sorry to see him go and get those picks.

Feels like kind of opposite of Saleh. He's not great at the initial game plan, but hes great at making adjustments at half time.

Does anyone still feel good about this defense? They can't stop the run or the pass anymore.
If we win this SB it'll be on Brock's arm and CMC's legs.
