I'm fine with giving the keys to Daniel Bullocks or Cory Undlin

I highly doubt the 49ers are clueless for a DC target. They have known this was coming for a year. Just because we don't know who is next in line doesn't mean they don't.

Timing is tricky unless we promote in house.

Uninformed

DeMeco does use a bunch of Fangio stuff on the back end(match quarters, rotations into Cover 3/6, etc). It's the front where it's different.

I wonder if Fangio would be willing to adjust to the base wide 9 and keep Kocurek. I doubt it, but that would be sweet.

It is, but they have known this was coming. I think they have their next DC.

If he's not willing to I don't want him. Run Kocurek's d-line stuff or I don't want you as the DC. Kocurek is incredibly important

I couldn't agree more! Plus we don't have the personell and while we have lots of picks they are mid rounders and it would be suicide to take the number 1 def and blow it up because of a coordinator change.

love Fangio but don't mess with what we have!

Good thing for 9ers is that they are better in the mid to late rounds then in the 1st

If getting Vic means losing Coach K…I'm out.

I expect Vic here.

Rather new blood. I want our franchise to be viewed as a destination for coaches. Makes us more likely to attract the best if they see coordinators keep getting head coaching jobs. Remember how Baltimore's defensive coordinators kept getting jobs?

So who you getting then?
Thoughts on Darryl Tapp? He's coach K's right hand man. Seems to be a up and comer.

still wouldn't be shocked to see Morris brought in if he can leave LA. Him and Kyle have a lot of experience together.

vic is damn good, he isn't gonna be a HC again so we don't have to worry about him leaving either. I don't want the scheme changing (doubt Kyle does either) and got to wonder how the defense responds to a guy like Vic vs a younger guy?
Are we positive that deMeco even gets a HC gig? Do I think he deserves it? Absolutely, but so many teams go for the offensive guy now that he could be the odd man out in this cycle.
couple other names….

Ejiro Evero- Former DC in Denver…ties to Vic, Monte Kiffin (Kyle's defensive dad), Morris and was in LA under McVay for a couple years.

Eric Washington-senior defensive assistant/defensive line coach in Buffalo. Got a lot of respect in NFL circles and they run a 4-3 zone with a lot of hybrid stuff. Very good at developing and might be a HC at some point.

Sean Desai-Associate Head Coach for Defense in Seattle.…considered one of the brightest young minds in the NFL. Was a DC for a yr in Chicago.

I am likely the only person on the zone that doesn't care for Fangio but whatever.

IMHO the zones love affair with him is hot ex girlfriend obsession. Just like Buckner.

We'd be super lucky to keep him for one more season. Not really sure there are a bunch of rock star offensive guys out there to be had this off season.
