Beyond riduculous. Absolutely absurd. Shows no respect for you current organization nor it's players. There's no way you can prepare for 4 interviews, take the interviews and prepare for a playoff game the same week. Complete garbage.

I do at my job.

why cant he?

I DONT LIKE this interviewing during the season BS..... A coach should be able to totally focus on the job at hand and not worry about capitalizing on future opportunities. NFL need to make a rule no poaching or interview until after the SB.......

Agree about focusing on the job at hand part

How many cowboys, eagles, chiefs, giants, bengals, bills assistants have a boatload if interviews - hardly any.

Why did he say Ryans is running Fangio's system?

DeMeco does use a bunch of Fangio stuff on the back end(match quarters, rotations into Cover 3/6, etc). It's the front where it's different.

I wonder if Fangio would be willing to adjust to the base wide 9 and keep Kocurek. I doubt it, but that would be sweet.

If getting Vic means losing Coach K…I'm out.

Ditto here. Stunned with the 4 interviews just before the DAL game. Sux. Also makes me wonder if Meco is as ready to be a HC as he and others think.

Look, every yr, approx 6-8 HCs get canned. Staley at Chargers probably should have been. And what is the #1 Challenge facing all these newby HCs?
Simple…building a team from dreck. Cowboys would be an exception but others, pretty close to the truth. Did Saleh when he left know how to build a team, know how to evaluate players, know how to coach O ,know how to find a starter QB, really understand how to trade for need, and so on? Nah.

Those are all big ticket items on building a team to say nothing of coaching and playcalling. The obvious choice for HC replacements, is some hot shot OC, who has experience at 2, maybe 3 or 4 teams and was successful at all stops. Those guys don't grow on trees, and are rare. Today signing a HC who is a DC, means until he gets an OC who knows the ropes and can win, that HC won't do jack. And then , if he made a great choice and the OC goes gangbusters, adios Meco next season. Meco would just have to start all over again at OC…ad infinitum.

Hence, HC should be OCs to begin with. It is a lot easer to find a good DC than it is finding a hot shot OC…eg, like Kyle. So maybe Meco gets a HC shot, and maybe not…but one thing he needs to remember is hanging around JL and KS for a yr just to learn all the above is worth its weight in gold. I don't think meco is there yet. On D….sure, fine. But as HC wiht an OC he has to find who is top flite…rotsa ruck.

Also has it even been confirmed he's interviewing for 4 this week, all I've hear is Denver today and Houston Friday

If he is doing this off the clock like it has been reported, then why is this an issue? He has probably been prepping for this for the last year or two anyways. I doubt he has crammed all of this prep in a few days.

Correct. People just love to complain
Theres only so much you can tweak in regards to a gameplan unless an opposing team loses a key player due to sickness/injury unexpectedly during the week. DeMeco prolly had his gameplan ready to go by Tuesday and now it is up to the the coaches and players to run with it. His interview and interview preps are prolly all going to be during his offtime outside his 14 hour work days. Give the man a break, plus his performance against the CowClucks is going to be a big part of the interview process :)
Hope they are Zoom meetings. Focus up, Demeco. It's championship time now.

I don't even know how much the D cord is involved in the day to day deliverables.

They are executives that deliver strategy while their assistants deliver tactics.

I doubt he writes the game plan - it's likely presented to him and then he makes final edits and then reviews with HC while installing.

i understand it can vary from team to team yet this is my general impression of the process.
Defensive coaches don't work as much as offensive coaches during the week. I would be much more concern if it is an offensive coordinator working under a defensive HC and do a bunch of interviews.
I love Meco and think he's good as gone, but I'd never hire him or any other defensive-minded coach to be my HC if I'm a GM. It is far harder to keep the identity of a team on offense between coordinators than it is defense. Add in the fact that QB is by far the highest-paid and most important position on the team and it makes too much sense to support him with a constant rather than a revolving door of coordinators/schemes.
