He would probably like someone experienced, but who does he know?

Or how about grooming and training their own goddamn coaches? Is it Shanny's job to do this for the league? These guys are hired as HC's now. Go find your own guys. Every year we're loosing DC's, QC's, pass and run gam coordinators, etc. Repeatedly, Shanny has to bring in/promote and train new guy, which causes this team to get off to slow starts. At some point attrition takes ahold. Personally, I think front offices are plain exploiting Shanny's ability to groom and train coaches, waiting to see who's the next hot young coach on Shanny's staff to pluck. The Chiefs win every year, yet you don't see Andy Reid's staff getting raided like this every year. You don't see him replacing key coaching spots like DC every year.
I know you loose coaches. But it seems like Shanny's coaches are particular favorites for teams to poach. Shanny's coaches have filled key roles in the Jets, Dolphins, Packers, and now Texans. When does it end?

If you don't like any of the QBs then no. Especially passing up a talented Pass rusher just to get a QB because the world thinks you're suppose to. My guess is, they go DE at #2. Trade down from #12, pick up assets then trade said assets to SF for Trey.
As Will Anderson increasingly becomes the favorite at 2, I have to say: I don't get Houston's approach.

If they're passing on the QB class, fine — tank for another year. But if they believe they can get a QB they want at 12 (or with a trade up), that is an enormous risk…

It seems all neat and tidy to say "let's take Anderson, top of our board, and if we get a QB we like around 12, cool. If not, let's wait until next year."
But so much can happen between 2 and 12! Between the 2023 and 2024 NFL Draft! Patience is good, but this is too far, IMO
By 2024 we will have poked holes in Caleb and Maye — and other QBs will have risen into Round 1.

And the Texans won't have a top 2 pick again.
And there will be 2025 QBs that look interesting.
There will be encouraging Davis Mills tape.
You can ride this carousel forever.

Seriously this is probably one of the worst draft day trades we've seen in the past decade, if not more. What are the Texans doing https://t.co/IH88DR97YI

I applaud them, if the trade was for Stroud no one would bat an eyelid, with all the reports that they were going to pass on a QB they likely had Anderson #1 on their board. If they took him at #2 the price of the trade goes up, so you get your QB and come back for the guy #1 on your board.
Go get your guys.

Agree with this take. Next year's class always look better cause they don't have the microscope on them.
You never know if you're going to be in position to draft as high as they are and this year's class has a lot of potential. Oh well, not my team so idc what they do lol.
