Coordinators don't call timeouts.

I remember being pissed off watching him get torched or in the wrong sets or players confused pre snap and screaming, "Call a TO Saleh! Regroup."

Now we know why it never happened...again. LOL

Saleh or Kyle?

Saleh or Kyle?

Saleh at the time. Kyle, with this knowledge now. Kyle needs to pay attention to the defense and not leave his DC out to dry. Damn control freak. LOL

Fann was born and raised in Seattle. Had a chance to go back home.

Seattle, like with Reed, will get Witherspoon on those special PED gum and he'll play better than he's ever played. And like with Reed, it won't make a bit of difference in the end.

Well, kyle is a control freak, (no big news there)and the signing of Saleh, with 2 yrs experience as a SEA LB coach, was a huge surprise. But all along i contended that kyle jump promoted Saleh from 2 yr LB coach to DC so he could have a DC that he could control, and have his D doing what kyle wanted. The key was, kyle was torn between sweating out his OC scheming , even when we were on Defense, and not being able to take the time to spend on the D when we were on defense.

Kyle had the reins on D , but just couldn't spend time on it. That was yr one and yr 2. 3rd yr kyle had learned a lot about D, but still was occupied scheming the O. In one of the Rams games i recall distinctly, the experienced DC for the Rams , Wade Phillips, was running the D while Rams HC was concentrating on the O. When we saw Wade Phillips really involved with D, Kyle was still working on O when our D was on the field. The difference between McVay with time to work his O while his D was on the field, on one hand , and kyle scheming on O when our D was on the field, was obvious.

That's when it occurred to me that kyle had chosen Saleh because Saleh would do whatever kyle wanted. McVay, meantime punted his D exclusively to Wade Phillips. Early on it was plain to see that kyle wanted to run both the O and D, and needed a guy who would be DC that would do Kyle's bidding. Most of the time for McVay, he could spend all the time on O and not worry about the D. But i wonder how things would have worked out if kyle had signed a crotchety experienced DC and just concentrated on O the first two yrs and THEN brought in a guy like Saleh with little experience who kyle could then "tell" him what D he wanted on the field.

From the gitgo, Kyle had the BW, or BB Head coaching model in mind, but time wise...not to mention experience wise....he just didin't have time to devote to D, because being a HC is so time intensive. No question tho, kyle wants to call both O ..AND D. It helps a boatload when you have the talent to run the D...and we basically are at that stage now. Need an Edge but otherwise, we appear to be in good shape.

I'm looking forward to just how much time kyle has to spend on D this yr. Both BB and BW came up thru the ranks, and both had serious experience on D. It was said that at one time, GOAT BW had coached every D position on the team (here and under Paul Brown) Kyle has been all O all the time since way back. But he is smart and will ultimately learn the D as well as he knows the O. A true HC isn't really one if he depends on his OC to call the plays and same on D re: DCs. But kyle has been willing to go with lesser experienced DCs, who will do his bidding. It sure helps Demeco that he has come up in Kyle's system rather than getting a retread like Dan Quinn. I really like that aspect of kyle getting a yes man for his DC....but with the advantage of Demeco knowing what kyle wants on his D.
I hope Ryans is more blitz heavy. Not in the 'bring the house' mode necessarily, but disguised (zone, over load, etc.). Saleh Was too vanilla over all for my taste. I would take the chance of giving up the occasional big play if they can manifest pressure most of the time. I always admired the Todd Bowles blitzes, and thought his designs and gambles paid off more often than not.

SPOON must have been badly injured except for 2 GAMES when he was with the 49ers !!
Ryans...will not be allowed to call time outs! Remember that. That's on Kyle.
