I heard a bit of his press conference. Definitely sounds like we will be more aggressive. He said it all starts with the d line. He expects them to be fast and aggressive. Sounds like more man

I like how he's approaching the defense. Very much Charlie Sumner 2.0. We shall see...

Al Davis and Ron Wolf said it constantly in regards to their defensive philosophy; the quarterback must go down and go down hard. Charlie Sumner was more than happy to accommodate them.
More man coverage huh... As long as none of these guys get burnt faster than toast like Nate Clements, gosh that signing had me pissed!... Who remembers Walt Harris!? Man he was a baller!

There are definitely going to be guys getting burned this season more than in recent years. It's just the nature of playing man since you can't blanket every receiver on the field on every snap.

But it's also going to create more opportunities for turnovers if our pass rush is bringing the heat.
have a feeling our D will take a step back, but mature during the season.

100%. Fans just need to be prepared to see them give up some big plays.

This doesn't sound like the wide 9 we've been running. I wonder how much Demeco is actually going to change this season.

I dont think formations will change at all...but philosophy may change dramatically under Demeco.

Playmaking from the safeties and the pass rush getting there are critical if we are going to pin our ears back and go for it. We have have the pieces when healthy to be game changing. I actually prefer it, I know it is boom/bust, but the bend but dont break philosophy is just a recipe for losing close games late.
So I've read cover 2 has been very effective against Wilson in recent seasons. Not sure we've ran that against him. Hope we do.

True yet i am curious how much freedom he gets under first year with KS.

Kyle may dictate some of the philosophy.

I think KS will let him do his thing just like he did with Saleh.

I'm surprised no one asked him if they were staying base wide9. I don't think Ryans' playing experience in that 2013 PHI defense means he is going to use a 4-3 Under, hopefully that time has passed. I'm not a fan of going back to that. Kocurek is still on board so that makes me think wide9 is still the base front. If they want to play fast, then stick with the wide9 and don't flip flop between 4-3 Under and Wide9. Makes it easier on the DLs and LBs.

This jives with the selection of Ambry Thomas (more press). Although, unless Verrett specifically said they are going to be in press alignment more often, Ryans' comment about being more aggressive may not necessarily mean more press - it could mean more blitzing.

Jimmy G better have a career year.....
Listening to interview and then rereading it, it sounds like we will be playing a 4-3FAST
