I'm sure the coaches have sent some tape into the league office about the non calls for holding.

There's going to be a number of plays shown. It's just stupid.

OK , this is all well and good.. but please do not deny our run defense issues by blaming refs... we were our own worse enemy and if if makes you feel better by blaming the refs. fine.. but that is well denial and deflection.

I expected growing pains on D. But yeah. Gotta stop the run or it's a death march.

I didn't notice Shaair much this game but Greenlaw was out of position on at least one of the chunk runs by DET. Also saw Street and Kerr get moved too far out of their gap on different plays. The LB play seems mental and easier to correct. Street and Kerr getting moved is a bit more concerning.

Bosa's just needs to start flopping out there to get the refs attention. Not his style I know but there are a ton of Wiley vets out there that use these techniques to get calls.

If refs aren't calling holding on our DL then tell our OL to start holding.

Glad Ryans got his first game as DC under his belt. He'll get better and better. Adjustments will be made to hopefully cut down a lot on those gashing run plays up the middle. Hopefully, Kinlaw gets back soon and can help, but this DL has a lot of talent plus adjustments will be made. As it's said, "You gotta stop the run."

What I didn't like, and yes hindsight is 20-20, was it's late in the 3rd Qtr. and the Niners are up big, 38-10. Play it straight up, i.e., no blitzes, and make the Lions slowly move the ball down the field. Yet the Niners blitz and the Lions get the big play, 43-yard TD screen pass, which I get just happened to be the perfect call for that blitz. Just don't blitz in that situation and instead force the Lions to "slowly matriculate the ball down the field" while you're teeing off with the pass rush. Make them burn time and don't even chance it with a blitz in that particular situation that can give up a big play. That big play I felt was totally unnecessary and was the start of the Lions getting momentum going.

Again, it's 20-20 the day after but just my thoughts at the time watching it live (re-watching the game today).

I'm going to chalk this one up to first game jitters for Demeco Ryans. Hopefully after watching the film and seeing how the defense had some bad moments. He'll make some adjustments and settle in well. These games will be more difficult as the weeks come and go.

This right here

The team should also go full media BS with it and talk non stop about fairness in games as a general concept.

If our elite DL isn't getting calls then we are at a disadvantage.

If our OL gets the same benefit we can take it and just need to have a high scoring game.

If we get some BS flags on offense we raise holy hell and let media images of holding out.

*Take the fine from the NFL for questioning officials and make it a big deal and PR issue for them. It cost us a SB in 2019. No more turning the other cheek

Pretty sure they get fined for publicly questioning refs

Meh, run defense isn't a big deal unless a team can pass big off it. We give up 1,800 yards and 4.5 yards a carry annually. It never has an effect on the game. This was no different.

The one difference I saw was Givens and Street blowing up field in 1 gap but often times right by the RB. The result is a big play or a big gain if those LB's aren't there.

These are inexperienced player coaching points.

Not concerned here mostly because teams don't run anymore.

Yeah that's not true if you look at last yrs playoff teams for the most part. Most of those teams were around top 10 rushing and the teams that weren't were TB (who actually ran the pay very well in the playoffs), KC (who spent a 1st on a RB), and the Bills who just has a elite QB like KC.

teams that win over the long-term, run the ball efficiently.

Right.... It seems like teams are trying to establish the ground game, especially against teams who struggle to defend It.... smart teams will always find a way to expose a teams weakness, and right now, our weakness Is the middle of the D-line.

Meh. Not even a tad concerned. Detroit is run centric like us and we were starting dudes like Street and Givens and we still destroyed them.

It's a good tactic to keep our pass rush at bay but not many are going to find regular success and enough success to play off it and keep our defense off balance.

I've been saying that since the Superbowl loss. LOL

It doesn't work that way for us.

Yea it's a ton of teams that run a lot. you cant' be that soft up the middle and except to compete with the big boys unless you offense is just that great.

Who's going to run more on us than Detroit?

I was told DTs are a dime a dozen though

Clearly if dudes like Givens and Street are starting and getting gashed and it's 31-10 at half. LOL
Run defense would have been a bigger problem if Detroit could have capitalized and the 49ers' offense hadn't been so good in the first half. The 2nd half Detroit needed to pass-pass-pass, which finally worked for them late, so honestly pass defense is still more concerning.

Most teams are going to run much less than the Lions did, unless they have a late lead. That's just the reality of 2021 NFL.

Kinlaw will hopefully be back for GB if not this week.
