Move this into NFL Talk after a couple of days.
But just wondering, what were Mike's actual contributions to the Shanny Offensive game plan?
And how will his absence affect things moving forward?
Who will step up? Will he even be replaced in the org chart?
Never really got a sense of the brain chemistry of the offensive staff and wondering how his departure will alter the on-field performance.
Thanks for any insight.

Really hard to know when you HC is the defacto OC. As you have seen with the Pats, Cheatin Bills DC's don't always amount to much when they fly solo, but on the other hand, anyone from the Walsh offensive tree seemed to take off like crazy from learning at his side.

All those assistants lost over all these years. Can you name one that went on to be successful? Lol, seems like the better option would be to just stay there

When cheating is outlawed, Belicheats assistants are at a disadvantage when they go out on their own.

This is why the Walsh tree > the Belichek tree. Not only do they take off, but they come up with their own spin on things.
As for who will step up, I am hoping they bring Rich Scangarello back or perhaps there is some offensive assistant ready to step up. If we could get him, I wish we could pluck Ken Dorsey from the Bills. Unfortunately it would not be a promotion. Cam Newton was MVP in 2015 with Dorsey as his QB coach and we have seen the leap that Josh Allen has taken under Dorsey in Buffalo.
Also, although this is later on down the line, I think coaching is in the future of Nick Mullens. Physically he doesn't have it, but he probably can make some team's roster as a backup for the next couple of seasons. I've stated before I think the reason Kyle favored Mullens to Beathard is that Mullens ability to proces the game is faster and he likely has a greater grasp of the offense. We know how much Kyle values guys that know what they are doing out there. Probably a better practice player as well. I wouldn't be shocked if Mullens ended up on a Kyle Shanahan staff as an offensive assistant whenever he retires.
