Also Trey about make us a passing offense next year along with the existing run game.

It all works together for the greater good. Id rather not let quality coaches just walk. Especially for that situation in Miami. Powerful GM that got a coach fired, a QB you didn't pick, and an owner that will side with the GM over you.

Shanahan hasn't really existed as a coach without McDaniel so you can't really know how much of an influence he plays. McDaniel was there with him in Houston, in Washington, in Cleveland, Atlanta and now SF. He's the one guy who has been with him at every single stop.

Never knew that….makes me even more certain he is staying put with kyle. Thx for the info, PHX.

McD wasn't helping him call plays that whole time though…he was cutting up film and getting him coffee early on. I think he actually took some time off because of issues with booze.

Do we have any stats on how the Sacramento Mountain Lions did when McDaniel was there as the RB coach? I'm pretty sure that's the only time he wasn't with a Shanahan.

They can only be creative up to a point with the run game. They are now in the mist of using personnel talent to be more creative. To that end the team can always add talent. Losing McD shouldn't make much of a dent. He's replaceable like Saleh with Demeco.

Not really easy to replace that much experience in this offense. Even moreso when Bobby Turner retires. At some point you do start see diminished returns in that you're having to rely on guys to learn your offense and get up to speed quickly where I'm sure there's some serious established trust between Shanahan and McDaniel right now.

Scangarello might just be the guy if McDaniel moves on.

While I agreed that it will take time to find someone to McD's level of trust with Kyle and well versed in what Kyle would like to do with the run game each week, the tweak isn't as bad with a veteran team that we have that's already well versed in the run game. I don't see the big drop off. We aren't talking about 2017-2018. The 2021 team moving forward is a vet team in both offense and defense. This is why Demeco, first time DC, losing Saleh, having success for the most part this year even with injuries, it's the vets like Tartt, Ward, and Warner keep the train chugging.

If he goes who else is out there? KK might be available we need some big boy coaches to have a professional staff. Help kyle along his maturational journey.

There's no chance they'd bring someone in from the outside unless they're already well-versed in the Shanahan offense. This offense is difficult to learn, but it's also difficult to teach, which is why most of our offensive coaches are home grown.

For a team with such a RICH tradition of great assistants and other people employed by the franchise (Brian Billick and Jon Gruden comes to mind as former employees that never coached), I'm amazed at how people think how great staff is so easily replaceable.

That just guarantees no one with experience and experience implementing a system will contribute to the plan. Walsh didnt do that. Mccarthy holmsy shanny sr all put in their own wrinkles.
So many names...leftwhich. Pederson. Well find someone.
