Hearing from a reliable source Jim Harbaugh will tell the team today / tomorrow he is leaving to be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Could have taken the Minnesota job. Preferred Miami. ( outside chance Michigan pays over the top and he stays ) but bet on Miami.
Interesting. I remember before we hired him the dolphins made a huge push for him. They have a similar blueprint to Harbaugh 2011 team. A top drafted qb that's not meeting expectations and a defense with a lot of potential. If he reunites with Harbaugh the afc east looks to finally be competitive in a long time. (Poor jets lmao)
I'm big on the NFL looking at coach's because they got a raw deal or team performance has revealed they ultimately were not the problem.
Jim Caldwell is a prime example. Given that Todd Bowles was with the Jets, any first time coach there deserves another shot lol. Brian Flores is one of the better ones out there. Shocked he hasn't been picked up yet. Even though it would only last one year but I'd love if we could get him coaching our secondary if no team is going to pick him up. Byron Leftwich is a hot name. And although I never would've hired him, I think it's a minor miracle David Culley got 4 wins out of that Texans team. Lovie Smith got a bad deal in Tampa, though his time has likely passed as a HC and would need to re-establish himself (similar to Dan Quinn or Bowles) before anyone would think of giving him a call.
But yeah, I read that crap on Mike McDaniel and couldn't help but to laugh. I've noticed people that write those articles don't even come across as knowledgeable football fans as evidenced by the fact that they never can really name any of the deserving coaches to make a case for them.

We've seen Shanahan switch DCs without a problem.
We've never seen him without McDaniel. He was there in Houston, Washington, Cleveland, Atlanta and now the 49ers. He's been Shanahan's right hand guy for over a decade. I think people might be slightly underestimating the potential loss if he goes elsewhere.
I think Scangarello can do a good job subbing in for McDaniel, also Kyle is pretty well known now as a offensive wizard, he can probably pick the best of the college coaching litter if he wants. Holmgren was just a BYU QB coach and Walsh brought him to the 49ers.
He probably can, but I don't want to. As for Holmgren being "just" a BYU QB coach, that was a pretty big deal in the 80s given who they had throwing the ball as well as their passing offense. Hoping we can win just one damn Super Bowl before the vultures really start to raid us lol.
Its a given you are going to lose good coaches. Holmgren and Mike Shanahan are prime examples. Kyle just has to keep loading up. Seifert never could do that. Example Marc Trestman.
Having said that, I'm also glad Kyles not afraid to upgrade the coaching- Kocurek for Zigonina. If his coach that potentially replaces McDaniel isn't up to Kyle's standards, he'll be let go like Zigonina.
I disagree. Seifert went from Holmgren to Mike Shanahan and the offense evolved. He just couldn't do it a second time. He also went from Bill McPherson, to Ray Rhodes, to Pete Carroll. Those defenses got better as his tenure went on. We just couldn't survive the loss of Shanahan AND Ricky Watters. I think if we had Watters, the Trestman tenure would've went far better. Or we could've promoted Gary Kubiak, but I think he had strong ties to that Denver organization.
If you are going to be a head coach. BE a good Head Coach. That means being good on *both sides* of the ball. If Tom Landry, Don Shula, and Bill Bellichik can coach the offensive side despite starting on the defensive side of the ball then Seifert was a bad hire. Plain and simple.
Definitely should've picked better than Trestman or had someone developing. I wonder if he ever did offer the job to Kubiak or interviewed him.
I can't like it but taking it with a grain of salt given the source.
The Miami #Dolphins hope to have their new head coach hired by the end of this week, and there are increasing signs that San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel will get the job.

I honestly don't really trust news until it officially gets announced. There was a time when everyone was claiming Harbaugh was going to the Dolphins, and then waddya know… he's the HC of the 49ers.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan just confirmed that the Mike McDaniel interview I mentioned will be later in the week is set for Thursday. Important day as Dolphins seek to finalize their HC search. https://t.co/nRyWmkUW0L

Especially if Flores can prove Ross tried to pay him to throw games. They'll absolutely, 100% lose their 1st pick or picks this year..
Yea, the timing of this lawsuit before a head coach is hired creates quite a quagmire for the dolphins. They're screwed either way. Hire white coach…see we told you they are racist. Hire minority coach…see they're just trying to not upset people. If the allegations are true it is a big mark against them and hopefully helps retain our OC.
