New Miami Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel

Jim Caldwell is a prime example. Given that Todd Bowles was with the Jets, any first time coach there deserves another shot lol. Brian Flores is one of the better ones out there. Shocked he hasn't been picked up yet. Even though it would only last one year but I'd love if we could get him coaching our secondary if no team is going to pick him up. Byron Leftwich is a hot name. And although I never would've hired him, I think it's a minor miracle David Culley got 4 wins out of that Texans team. Lovie Smith got a bad deal in Tampa, though his time has likely passed as a HC and would need to re-establish himself (similar to Dan Quinn or Bowles) before anyone would think of giving him a call.

But yeah, I read that crap on Mike McDaniel and couldn't help but to laugh. I've noticed people that write those articles don't even come across as knowledgeable football fans as evidenced by the fact that they never can really name any of the deserving coaches to make a case for them.

Definitely should've picked better than Trestman or had someone developing. I wonder if he ever did offer the job to Kubiak or interviewed him.
Mostly everyone in the media are stupid. Seriously, they're the dumbest among us. All media is about on par with TMZ and I feel like I'm insulting TMZ when they perform a more valuable service than most of the TV and written press.

Right.

You don't always get the luxury of waiting around for a perfect job that might never come. I think he's interested. There are only 32 of these jobs in the world.

Is he Elizabeth Warren bi-racial or really bi-racial? Mike McDaniel looks like his great grandfather is half black. Hell, Lance's mom is white and he's got those tight curls and naps.

It's far from an ideal situation but $$$ can make a person put up with a lot of s**t.

I think you only get 2 picks once (Saleh) and they don't stack on same years (why we got only one comp pick for Mayhew and its in 2023 not this year). So if both Ryans and McDaniels get promotions I think that adds thirds ins 2024 and 2025, one pick for each guy.

That's incorrect. If you lose both a coach and an executive in the same year, you get three third round picks total.

f the 49ers had lost Saleh last year and Mayhew this year, they would have received four third round picks. So if McDaniel indeed ends up as head coach of the Dolphins, the 49ers can expect two third round picks as compensation.

I haven't seen any compensation cap listed anywhere and a cap wouldn't make sense anyways since the purpose of the compensation is to help incentivize teams to keep promoting and developing minority assistants. If one team continually gets comp picks because they churn out assistants and executives that get hired on by other teams, the league is still seeing the program have the desired effect.

There is a compensation cap. The Saleh + Mayhew situation was rare and an example

We got 3 3rds instead of potentially 4 if they had left in different years

Yes and that's spelled out in the rules pretty clearly when it comes to losing multiple people in a single year but there's nothing I've found that suggests it changes your compensation in the years going forward.

Yup. So if we lose McDaniel this and Ryans next we will still get 2 3rds (Saleh/mayhew one dealt to Miami) this, 3 3rds next year and 1 in 24. If Carthon goes next year with Ryans it's 3rds in 24 and 25.

his dad is black. He talks about it in a couple interviews.

Deadspin who did a race-bait article about Miami looking at "hiring another white guy" in reference to McDaniels had to backtrack and retract their claim lol. You'd think they'd do some homework when tossing out that.
I'd imagine that we'd hear whether or not we lose Mike sometime between the end of Kellan Moore's interview on Saturday and Monday.
