Thank god. He flopped as oc im guessing. Shanny had to step in week7 and start calling things that worked. Just speculating. Good luck to him. Lynn is a solid upgrade.

Now we need a passing special assistant and we are on a jet plane.

I don't believe Kyle ever gave up play calling duties; the promotion for McDaniel was primarily to stop another team from hiring him as their OC (which worked, until a team hired him as HC instead)

Uh do you not know Shanahan has always called the plays?

Lol this.

He didn't. Kyle has always called the plays. His OC/top offensive assistant's job is to largely focus on gameplanning and the run game. McDaniel handled that since 2017. Now it'll be Lynn's job.

I dont think so. I think at the beginning of the season mcdee was primarily responsible for the play sequencing. I don't have any proof but the play calls just weren't the same as the last couple of years. That's what it felt like to me. And it was a terrible flop. I think that was it for McDaniel in this organization after that. But I'm just speculating.

Of course Shanny has always had final say for every play. But I think there was a time in there where McDaniel was taking over the reins for this quarter, that quarter. And it showed

A double-edged sword here for McDaniel. He'll get HC experience and some nice guaranteed cash. But he's doing this for a team that's been a mess for what feels like decades and that's also going to be under constant scrutiny because of the Flores issue.

Yeah Kyle addressed that. He was gameplanning to include plays for two different QBs and then recognized that it wasn't working.

Regardless of title, McDaniel has held the same main role since 2017. He was always the run game guru and never the playcaller.

I see it as a no lose situation for him.

If he flops as head coach, well, he entered into an impossible situation with a jackass owner that may have been trying to pay his former head coach to throw games. So its perfectly understandable that anyone would struggle under those circumstances and he'd quickly find a home again with Kyle, Saleh, LaFleur, McVay or elsewhere.

Now if he succeeded and got the Dolphins into the playoffs and got that team rolling, he'd basically be looked at as a coaching legend.

Flores still got fired
Wish him well except for when he plays the 49ers.

All of these are fair points. I'll just add that, depending on how badly he flops, there's no guarantee he gets an HC opportunity again. Of course, there's never a guarantee for HC jobs generally, so for some coaches, the logic is: once the door opens, you take whatever job you can.

On your second point, it's going to be hard to get them into the playoffs with the Bills and an ascending Pats squad in that division. Anything is possible, though.
How many comp picks we getting and when?

I wonder if this opens up the door for Jimmy to go to Miami. He might be a good stop gap quarterback for Miami until they find their own franchise quarterback. They do own our 1st rounders over the next couple years….

(even though I'm still convinced we deal Jimmy + others to GB for Rodgers)
