They have a ton of offensive assistants

Dunno on that one. He was awful as a game-planner/play-caller in Denver and fired after a year. The Niners liked him for his work with QBs. Feel like anyone replacing McDaniel has to be a great all-around offensive mind but especially gifted in run game scheming.

Brian Fleury is coaching in the East-West Shrine game this week. Maybe he's one to watch.
Scrangarello was fired because Shumur got fired, he was hired first as everyone else available to run West Coast Offense in 2019 was hired earlier, and he could not make Lock a franchise QB in a season.

Scangarello and Shumur were never on the same team in Denver?

Doesn't matter. Shanahan loves him. Denver is a learning experience.

Um.. So.. maybe it's just me but.. That response comes off as very blunt and wave-offish. Like, we all know Shanahan likes him. He wouldn't have brought him back if he didn't. But he has lots of other offensive staff, and who knows if we'll add even more? How do we know he's gonna line up Scangarello over any other developing staff to be the next in line?

Maybe he was awful because they had bad players, starting with the QB.

I am not concern about the offense. This is a Kyle's offense no matter who has the OC title.
Finally Kyle will have this moment happen to him! Hope the mics pick it up.

Very possible. You could be right. He went 4-1 with Lock. The more that I dig into it, I'm reading that Fangio butted into the offense way more than he should've. I'm gonna go ahead and backtrack on what I've said on Scangarello. He was awful early in the year, but it could very well be a combination of Fangio being overbearing on the rookie OC. It seems like he actually got things going late in the year and Fangio bailed on him more because they didn't get along and/or really had philosophical differences.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported in November that Fangio "has had issues with offensive assistants."

"Lines of communication have been strained, and Fangio has been quick to dispute play calls and come across as overbearing on the headsets, sources said, which has created issues in-game and otherwise," La Canfora wrote.

McDaniel won't call a single play all season long.

He is an OC the way Pete Carmichael is OC for the Saints and Bieniemy is OC for the Chiefs. They help with game planning and on gameday they shout into headsets that aren't even turned on while looking very concerned.
