He had shown great ability in prior years, just no consistency. Last year he put it all together.

Buffalo is jumping ahead of the market a bit. By 2025, this contract will be a bargain compared to what other top-end QBs will be getting.

i misheard it the first time. it's actually three players in four days. but still...
Every Patriots coaching tree guy seems to start like this and think they can throw their weight around and act like BB.

Usually backfires in their face spectacularly.

All salaries for pro athletes are getting ridiculous. I love Steph Curry but his new contract will pay him $50+ million per year. When are these salary escalations going to stop. Athletes are earning so much now that they're more worried about staying healthy and collecting all that money than they are about success on the field. Way too many players taking games off for rest. When players earn enough in one year that they could retire and never have to worry again if they invest wisely, they're making too much.
I mean, the owners are making more and more every year too, so player salaries will just continue to rise.

Do you like getting a pay raise at work? Or are you happy working for the same wage for 10-20 years?

Actually, before I retired I often went long stretches without a raise depending on the economy. I never made the kind of money these players are making now. A raise for most people might mean the difference between buying a new car or staying with the old one. Is a player really going to live that much better if he makes $40 million per year than he will with $25 million. If they have a financial advisor they can be comfortable the rest of their life with one 3-5 year contract. When I say comfortable I'm talking about owning a home free and clear and doing just about whatever he wants to do.

Please don't talk about how they have short careers and need to earn all they can. A lot of players do very well after they retire based on their name. They get jobs representing companies. Several of them actually get a degree and go to work in some field . They often don't start at the bottom because of their name recognition. I'm not even talking about the guys that get the color analyst jobs on TV.

A raise is one thing when you're making the rookie scale. When you start getting paid based on what someone else got paid , it's time to slow down a little. At the current rate of escalation, players will be making $75- $100 million per season within 5 years.

Are owners going broke or something by handing out these contracts? Who should get all of this money, more to the owners?

If people don't like how much these guys are getting paid, stop watching the sport and they won't be paid as much. But you won't do that, but you're okay with denying them what they are actually worth in market value. And in reality a player like Curry is worth even more than that if there wasn't cap space, same with a QB like Pat. The money they make for the owner and even city, highly outweighs what they are being paid.
