That the Rams misused him as a OLB and that Kris Kocurek can make him betteras a PR. He ran a 4.5 40 in college. They are hoping that his speed off the edge in wide 9 will kill. I had hoped that the niners would resign Hyder, but they must think that Ebukam has more potential as a PR. Hyder had his best career year with us, before that he was similar to Ebukam. Kris was high on Hyder last year, he might be just as high on Ebukam or higher. If he is even higher, then I hope only good things, only thing is Kris was familiar with Hyder having coached him before. Hyder is bigger and used his size and strength to get his pressures. Not a speed rusher at 5.1 40, but is better to set the edge. Which Sam won't be doing.

Last season, Ebukam ranked fifth among all outside linebackers in pressure rate at 14.7 percent, trailing only Markus Golden, T.J. Watt, Matthew Judon and Bradley Chubb. Should go up as a situational pass rusher.

Ebukam also had a higher pressure rate than Kerry Hyder Jr. (12.6 percent), although Hyder had 8.5 sacks last season. Samson played in 35.5% of Rams defensive snaps.
Athleticism
Pro Day Date:3/28/2017
40 Yard Dash: 4.50 seconds
40 Yard (MPH): 18.18 (MPH) 93 percentile
20 Yard Split: 2.57 seconds
10 Yard Split: 1.53 seconds 87 percentile
Bench Press: (N/A) reps (225 lb)
Vertical Leap: 39.0 inches 89 percentile
Height: 73.88 inches
Weight: 240 lbs
Broad Jump: 130 inches
Hand Size: 9.63 inches
Arm Length: 32.38 inches
20 Yd Shuttle: 4.34 seconds
Three Cone: 7.07 seconds.

The closest athletic comparison to him among defensive players during the draft is Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner. The closes athletic comparison to him among all players is running back Adrian Peterson.

We had no speed last year which is what Dee was supposed to supply. This is what the niners are hoping is finding a diamond in the rough.

Not saying he's the next Khalil Mack or Dee Ford but his numbers and athleticism are very similar to theirs.

Khalil Mack
40 Yard Dash: 4.55 seconds
40 Yard (MPH): 17.98 (MPH)
20 Yard Split: 2.57 seconds
10 Yard Split: 1.53 seconds
Bench Press: (N/A) reps (225 lb)
Vertical Leap: 40.0 inches
Height: 74.63 inches
Weight: 251 lbs
Broad Jump: 127 inches
Hand Size: 10.25 inches
Arm Length: 33.25 inches
20 Yd Shuttle: 4.18 seconds
Three Cone: 7.08 seconds

Dee Ford
40 Yard Dash: 4.59 seconds
40 Yard (MPH): 17.82 (MPH)
20 Yard Split: 2.69 seconds
10 Yard Split: 1.67 seconds
Bench Press: (N/A) reps (225 lb)
Vertical Leap: 35.5 inches
Height: 74.13 inches
Weight: 252 lbs
Broad Jump: 124 inches
Hand Size: 10.25 inches
Arm Length: 32.88 inches
20 Yd Shuttle: 4.73 seconds
Three Cone: 7.07 seconds

Mainly the ones that's important to be successful at EDGE. Three Cone, Broad Jump, 10 Yard Split, Vertical, and Shuttle Drill. Although he's slightly shorter than Ford his wingspan is slightly longer than Ford.

The potential and athleticism is there, just need Kocurek to mold him to be his next successful project. Really wanted Reddick to be Ford's replacement but this guy will do for now. FA just started though.
His numbers are very similar to Haason Reddick from a athletic perspective...

Imo he's just a depth rotational guy...throw him out there on 3rd and long speed rusher. Play STs. Overall they need to do much more at the edge
No issues with these kinds of #MoneyBall targets. Spider graphs and high production with limited reps.

Bradly Chubb and TJ Watt were 1st rounders and Markus Golden was a second rounder, so if Ebukam is in that neighborhood, that means maybe we got us a potentially a decent 2nd round edge rusher pick for a decent price. As others have said, this guy might thrive and develop in Kocurek's defense.

Yeah, I think this kid can blossom with us - him and Bosa on the edge should be interesting to watch.
As long as he gets 6-8 sacks that's worth 6 mil per year imo

I think he can be a 10 sack guy with more starting reps.

You are getting into elite territory, in my book if he can do 10-ish sacks a year with consistency.

So basically from a cap scenario, he's on the books for $3.75M and SF can move off him next yr with only like $1.7M in DM. I mean you can't hate that for a depth edge rusher who's got some measurables you drool over.

dirt cheap and gives you some juice on obvious passing downs. This doesn't really change the need to another pass rusher though.

Still want Kerrigan
Obviously haven't paid attention to him at all in the NFL, but here are my notes from the draft the year he entered.

No combine or significant showcase game invite.
Very raw, developing but inconsistent hand usage. When he tries to use his hands he can be effective, he just simply forgets to use them often. Very minimal pass rush plan and a minimal move set unnatural burst, looks like an elite athlete against the low level of competition. Inconsistent, but above average get off. Flashes of above average bend throughout the hips, able to get past around and under offensive tackles in 3-5 steps. Undisciplined run defender. Above average closing speed and motor to chase players down in the backfield. Good tackler in space. Under size, more of a stand up 34 outside linebacker than a hand in the dirt 43 defensive end. Lacks bulk and strength. Upside as a situational nickel pass rusher, good for the niners chase down Russell Wilson. Day three target.
